I remember being at an ODI at Trent Bridge in 2012, where England were bowled out for 190 odd by South Africa. Jimmy Anderson took three wickets to leave them about 10-3 and the crowd went nuts. Amla and ABDV knocked off the rest with minimal fuss. This had a depressingly familiar feel.

South Africa captain AB de Villiers: I've been a little bit off my game in the last month or so, so it's nice to finish like that. As captain, you have to lead from the front.
"I didn't think we were that far off in the first two ODIs, the belief was still there.
"It's a great performance today and I'm very chuffed.
"Guys chipped in throughout the team. We showed a lot of character. It's a great team effort.
"Credit to England, they put us under pressure and didn't play bad cricket. The last three were all close and it could have gone either way."
AB de Villiers ends his post-match interview by wishing the man with the mic (HD Ackerman) a happy birthday. Like I say, he's a jolly good fellow.
England opener Alex Hales, who scored 383 runs at 76.60: "I have mixed emotions. It was a close series and we let ourselves down in the last two games, plus we dropped a couple of catches, but it's been a very entertaining series.
"Being adaptable to the different situations is key and I felt in good touch but it's disappointing to be on the losing side.
"We have an exciting side and played exciting cricket. We're still learning and have lost to a very strong South Africa side."
AB de Villiers is awarded the man of the match award. But it's not all about taking for AB... he walks up to collect his trophy with a bouquet of flowers for the lady presenting his award and a signed bat for the young man alongside her. A lovely man, it seems.
England captain Eoin Morgan: "Anything above 250 we would have been in the game, but getting past AB is a different challenge.
"South Africa's batting is similar to ours, but getting past the experienced pair is completely new to us.
"It's disappointing to lose the series, but there were some exceptional individual performances. We're proud, but ultimately disappointing."

"It's the decisions you make under pressure that count. That's when you become a top player or a top side. If we're trying to win the World Cup in 2019, then we have made advancements.
"We have opening batsmen who can play shots but you need players who can make hundreds - Roy gives it away too much and Morgan is not a number four for me.
"He should bat at six and play like Michael Bevan and whack them later on not when the bowlers are bowling tight lines and length."
Eoin Morgan walks up to the presentation and is awarded a medal. He swiftly removes it from round his neck.

Ian: Don't understand the British media. From hero to zero overnight. England are still a work in progress. Give them a break please.
Kieron Bird: As an England fan, I'm disappointed. But as a fan of the game, that was one exciting series.

"England need to find ruthlessness and a bit of common sense. I hope the coach and captain are honest to say the batsmen had a very bad day at the office.
"The bowling was good. Topley and Broad bowled great at the start and took wickets to put them under pressure but they didn't have enough runs to play with."
Geoffrey Boycott
Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special
"England have come a fair way since the World Cup but they must learn to play to the situation of the pitch. A good cricketer is a thinking cricketer. You have to adapt. Not every pitch is a 350-run pitch."
When the hosts took their turn to bat, victory seemed a long way away as Reece Topley reduced them to 22-3.
But AB de Villiers and Hashim Amla (59) put on 125 runs to put the result beyond doubt.
Geoffrey Boycott
Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special
"Alex Hales played splendidly, his footwork was far better than in the Test matches, he caressed the ball rather than trying to smack it and he played some delicate shots, some precise shots, and it was a shame that the mayhem at the other end spoilt his innings.
"All the other batsmen got themselves out - it was a really bad batting day - and captain Eoin Morgan's was the worst of the lot."
South Africa rugby legend and all-round national icon Francois Pienaar is on the field congratulating AB de Villiers.
And so he should - the skipper's patient, controlled 101 not out saw his side over the line after England had posted a below-par 236 all out.
Alex Hales played nicely for his 112, but he found very little support elsewhere as wickets fell at regular intervals.
Imran Tahir, in particular, deserved his figures of 3-53.

Francis Edwards: England given a reality check. You can't just play one dimensionally, you need to adapt. Same story, just looks worse this way.
Alex Pitt: Last 2 games have shown where England miss Taylor. If the big hitters get out we're too reliant on Root to hold it together.
Grant Dommen: Congratulations South Africa, thoroughly deserved. Morgan was never the right man for me, proven right this series
We'll bring you the presentation shortly. But let's remind ourselves what's happened today.
Well, it all started to go AB-shaped when the South Africa skipper won the toss and chose to field on a damp pitch.
Geoffrey Boycott
Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special
"England have to do some serious thinking about how they gave it away at the Wanderers in the fourth match and how they batted here."
