  4. SA 63-3 (Amla 26, De Villiers 24)published at 15 overs

There's a raucous atmosphere inside Newlands this afternoon - fans of both sides are enjoying the cricket, sunshine and, ahem, beer. Helped along, of course, by the 'tunes' being belted out by the PA system. From Beyonce to Neil Diamond, you're left wondering what on earth will be played next. Three more runs chipped from the target.

"That's a floater outside off stump. A 'hit me' ball, a wide half-volley. They have to stick to the basics, build pressure."

  6. SA 60-3 (target 237)published at 14 overs

Ben Stokes dives full length to try and snaffle a very low caught and bowled chance off Hashim Amla, but instead he ends up chewing dirt and rueing his luck.

When he floats one up outside off stump, AB de Villiers hammers the ball to the cover boundary with a dismissive slap of the bat.

"I don't think Woakes was intending to bowl a bouncer. He just dragged it down and made it pretty easy to hit."

  8. SA 52-3 (Amla 22, De Villiers 18)published at 13 overs

A patient one-day innings from AB de Villiers is un-nerving. Like being arrested for nicking the office stapler and sharing a holding cell with an unhinged mass murderer. You know what he can do. He knows what he can do. But there's an uneasy peace.

Hashim Amla is playing well too, mind, as he hooks Chris Woakes for four.

Grant Kennett: With the current standard of umpiring, it's a joke teams only have 1 review. Captains are inclined to check everything.

  10. SA 45-3 (target 237)published at 12 overs

When AB can clear the ropes like that, it almost seems daft that he's playing a cautious innings here. He has to, mind. His teams hopes surely rest on his shoulders and those of Hashim Amla.

He is beaten on the outside edge by Ben Stokes, who appears to be struggling with his run-up. A good delivery to end the over though.

  12. 6 runs

    SA 43-3published at 11.1 overs

Ben Stokes starts his spell with a massive front foot no-ball.

That gives AB de Villiers a free hit, and the skipper wallops the ball into the next post code. Six.

  13. Ireland beat UAEpublished at 13:06

Ireland have won the opening Twenty20 international against the United Arab Emirates by 34 runs in Abu Dhabi.

After being restricted to 134-8, Ireland's bowlers came through to bowl out the hosts for 100 in the 20th over.

Kevin O'Brien, who also chipped in with a useful 23, took 3-14 while Tim Murtagh, Craig Young, Boyd Rankin and Max Sorensen were also among the wickets.

  15. SA 34-3 (target 237)published at 11 overs

Thanks Stephan. Everyone well? One more wicket and England have got a real sniff here.

Chris Woakes almost sneaks it with his first delivery - a slow-ish, inswinging yorker which Hashim Amla just about digs out before it disturbs his timbers.

  16. SA 32-3published at 10 overs

England might have three in the hutch, but they have to get both of these men back with the rest of the rabbits if they are to win this match. Twice Topley strays on to the pads of De Villiers, who helps himself to a pair of boundaries. Here to talk you though to the conclusion of this series is Marc Higginson.

"I think Stuart Broad is better bowling now, and not at the death. You don't always have to save your best bowler for the death because they are not always good at bowling at the death."

  18. SA 24-3 (target 237)published at 9 overs

Stuart Broad continues to probe, keeping Hashim Amla quiet. Off-stump line, when Amla does look to break the shackles, the fielders do the rest. Reece Topley, by the way, has taken three wickets in nine deliveries. Don't take your eyes off this bad boy.

Kieron Bird: Reece Topley, will you be my valentine?

  20. SA 22-3 (Topley 4-1-13-3)published at 8 overs

That shot from Rossouw was in keeping with England's batting display. A very loose drive. AB de Villiers is the new man, forming a key partnership with Hashim Amla. Topley gets one to shape back into the pads and appeals, but the skip has got an inside edge. Compelling cricket.
