"Every day of the week, you would have expected India to walk this. You just sense New Zealand are slightly ahead with those early wickets, but this is the partnership that could take the game away from them."

  2. Ind 29-4published at 6 overs

Ah, Adam Milne will get something out of his £11 match fees, called upon to bowl this seventh over. Dhoni has to put his lid back on.

Luthando Ezra Mbaza: New Zealand could make this World Cup very interesting. Kohli out, and they have the game.

  4. Ind 29-4 (target 127)published at 6 overs

No pace from New Zealand. Adam Milne might not get a bowl today - in club cricket they call it a 'thanks for coming'. Grant Elliott's medium dobbers into the attack, so slow that MS Dhoni gets rid of his helmet. A couple of singles from it. Sticky, sticky stuff.

"This is tense. The crowd were hoping for India to come out and make it look easy. I love a low-scoring game though. It sometimes brings more character out of the players. New Zealand still have lots of work to do but they are very much ahead of the game."

  6. Ind 26-4 (McCullum 2-0-11-2)published at 5 overs

India don't have a problem, they have a honking great crisis in the shape of a Kiwi. Luckily, they have a man used to putting out fires, with skipper MS Dhoni striding to the crease to join Virat Kohli. Two giants of the Indian game are charged with making sure this isn't a giant slip-up.

"New Zealand have put three spinners in today and they are absolutely doing the business. They are very much in this game now."

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 4.5 overs

    Yuvraj c&b McCullum 4 (Ind 26-4)

Big, big moment. At first, it looked like nothing, but New Zealand were positive. Close-ups showed that Yuvraj Singh bunted the ball straight back to Nathan McCullum, without jamming it into the ground first. When the decision comes on the big screen, Nagpur falls silent. At the moment, New Zealand are spoiling the party.

  9. Third umpirepublished at 4.5 overs

    Ind 26-3

What's happened here? McCullum is hollering for caught and bowled, but is it a bump ball? New Zealand are sure they have Yuvraj. The third umpire is called for...

  10. Ind 26-3published at 4.4 overs

Yuvraj gets grumpy with some movement behind the bowler's arm, so much so that one of the umpires has to emerge from his boudoir and remonstrate with some fans. You don't want to hold up a cricket match in India, you might not make it home. Yuvraj, now feeling a bit happier, sweeps fine for four...

Stuart Mitchell: NZ need Kohli out, has the ability to win this game on his own.

  12. Ind 21-3 (target 127)published at 4 overs

I'm being deadly serious. I reckon if you offered Kane Williamson the chance to bowl 20 overs of spin here, he'd take it. Can he bowl himself, or his action still under scrutiny? I'm pretty sure he's back. On a wider point, are we glad these decks have something for the bowlers, or should T20 be all about the willow?

Arjun Sohanpal: 126 suddenly looks quite defensible, doesn't it? This is why I love cricket.

  14. Ind 20-3published at 3.4 overs

Right on cue, Kohli cuts Anderson for four, then walks down the track to whip through mid-wicket. Even at three, New Zealand might not have enough spin options...

Who saw this coming? India are only chasing 127, in conditions more comfortable to them than a day under the duvet. New Zealand's spinners, though, are doing the bizo. Yuvraj Singh the new man, but you feel that Virat Kohli holds all the cards.

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 2.5 overs

    Raina c Guptill b Santner 1 (Ind 12-3)

Game on! Game definitely on! India have lost a third wicket and New Zealand are right in this. It's a horrible half-tracker from Mitchell Santner, but Suresh Raina somehow gets a leading edge to Martin Guptill at short mid-wicket. We could have a thriller on our hands.

"Mitchell Santner is delighted and so he should be. He got good flight and the ball dipped up late. There's definitely something in this pitch for the spinners. New Zealand made that bold move to select three and now they're right in the action."
