"It's a lack of timing from Luke Ronchi - not for the first time today either. What a great time for Australia to get the wicket."

  3. wicket

    Ronchi c Maxwell b Faulkner 6 (NZ 133-6)

Brilliant death bowling from James Faulkner - mixing up his slower balls and cutters and keeping the batsman guessing. Luke Ronchi never got his timing and he pulls a slower ball straight down midwicket's throat.

  4. Women's World Twenty20 - updatepublished at 10:46 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2016

Over in Mohali, White Ferns captain Suzie Bates is tucking into the Ireland bowling attack - she's passed 2,000 T20I runs and now only Charlotte Edwards is ahead of her on the all-time list., external Bates has 39 from 34 balls, she's added 66 with Sophie Devine (25) and NZ are 85-1 after 10 overs.

  5. NZ 129-5 (Elliott 20, Ronchi 3)published at 18 overs

Lovely placement from Elliott, backing away to leg and steering Marsh through the gap on the off side. Mitchell Marsh is turning the ball into him with his cutters and this time Elliott works with the spin, swatting him behind square for a one-bounce four. Clever batting, crucial runs.

"Well bowled by Watson - he didn't allow him to free his arms. Even with the slower balls, the length Australia have bowled today has been impressive."

  7. NZ 118-5published at 17 overs

Luke Ronchi is the new man - he's off the mark with a drive for one.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 16.4 overs

    Taylor c Marsh b Watson 11 (NZ 117-5)

Ah. If that six raised hopes of a decent New Zealand total, they've just been somewhat deflated again. Taylor going for another big shot, but this time he can't get underneath it, the bat turns in his hand, and Mitchell Marsh pockets the catch at midwicket.

  9. 6 runs

    NZ 117-4published at 16.3 overs

Watto is back - he's been harder to get away than a wasp at a picnic so far today. Until now! Brilliant from Ross Taylor, getting underneath the bounce and blasting it into the stands at midwicket.

Neil Boulton:#bbccricket, external has Mitchell Marsh as 'purveyor of seam-up dibbly-dobbers'. Maybe but he's first on team-sheet for my Church six-a-side team... if he's available on a rainy May-day bank holiday Monday in Wiltshire, that is.

  11. NZ 107-4 (run rate 6.68)published at 16 overs

New Zealand's 100 eventually comes up off when Taylor smears one into the leg side, and that's a big bonus - Grant Elliott inside-edges one past the keeper and it trickles away for four. Can they get another boundary off this over? Nope, but some hard running at least garners eight off it.

From Sri Lanka Cricket's official website:, external "The practice T20 matches for the remaining players from the WT20 pool will get underway at the R Premadasa International Stadium this evening, and the selectors are expected to pick a suitable replacement for Malinga, to join the team."

    Former Australia batsman

"If there's one thing New Zealand's win against India taught them, they scored 120 and still won comfortably. That will give them confidence. At the time everyone thought India would chase them down in a doddle."

  14. NZ 99-4 (Taylor 4, Elliott 1)published at 15 overs

Grant Elliott, he of the World Cup semi-final heroics, is the new man, and I think he's the kind of batsman New Zealand need - not a simple power hitter, but a creative finder of angles and shots. Not much he can do with Coulter-Nile's over though - just two off it, and Australia continue to slow this New Zealand innings. Only 30 balls left for the Black Caps...

    Michael Slater
    Former Australia batsman

"Bonus for Australia, things are changing for New Zealand - you just felt momentum was building again but now Grant Elliott has a real job to do. It was the slower ball that did for Munro."

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 14 overs

    Munro c Faulkner b Marsh 23 (NZ 97-4)

Munro never looked comfortable out there - he loves to free those arms but Australia's nagging stump-to-stump line was keeping them under lock and key. He tries to drag a slog sweep off Mitchell Marsh but it's all wrists, no extension of the arms, and it's comfortably pouched by James Faulkner.

  17. NZ 96-3published at 13 overs

Munro finally finds the fence - reverse-paddling Maxwell down to third man for four. And that seems to spark him into life, as he drops dramatically to one knee and nails a reverse sweep right out of the screws to the square boundary. Four byes off the final delivery make it a very good over indeed for New Zealand.

  18. Women's World T20 - updatepublished at 10:21 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2016

    New Zealand v Ireland

New Zealand's women have also taken an attacking approach at the start of their innings. Rachel Priest smashed three fours off the first over, bowled by Kim Garth, which went for 14. But Amy Kenealy removed Priest in the next over - NZ are 19-1 after two.

  19. NZ 82-3 (run rate 6.83)published at 12 overs

What are New Zealand eyeing up here now? They were cruising to 180-plus, but now - 160? Munro just can't get going here - he takes four balls to get off strike against the very effective Shane Watson. New Zealand haven't hit a boundary for six overs...
