Machan facing. He backs away, another well-run two to long-on. 24 from 10.
The experienced Mohammad Nabi to bowl his off-spin. Captain Preston Mommsen on strike. A firm drive to extra cover, one run taken. 26 from 11 needed.
A superb dive from Machan, not only did he make his ground but he kept his bat on the ground as Shahzad took the bails off. 27 needed from 12 balls. This is why we love this game...
Machan drives down the ground, comes back for two, he'll have to hurry, he dives for the crease and they're checking upstairs...
Machan down the ground for six over the bowler's head! 29 from 13.
Machan steps across to the off side, Dawlat follows him, it's out of his reach and a dot ball. 37 from 15. Left-hander Machan digs out a full delivery to mid-on and they get back for two. 35 from 14.
The skipper had to go back to seam at some point - can Dawlat Zadran, who took 3-29 against Scotland at last year's World Cup, win it for his side - or will he be expensive? Machan can only steer the first ball for a single. Field adjusted for Mommsen, who sets up for a ramp but then angles his bat on a full delivery down to third man for one. 37 needed from 16.
Sco 132-4 (target 171)
Stanikzai shuffles his field again. Mommsen smears a single to third man, Machan nearly hits a full toss into extra cover's hands but once again it falls short... Six from the over, so 39 from 18 balls is the target.
How Afghanistan juggle their bowlers for the last few overs could be crucial. With Hamza and Rashid bowled out, it's back to Shenwari who has two overs left - so could bowl overs 17 and 19. It's still just ones and twos from Mommsen and Machan - 41 needed from 21 balls.

Neil Halliwell: Not followed Scottish cricket much before. Seems like all Scottish sport, start promisingly and then collapse in total failure.
(Machan 17, Mommsen 8)
Mohammad Nabi back into the attack, bowling his off-spin round the wicket. But again, all Scotland can find are singles, and that ain't gonna be enough. Six singles - and nearly a wicket as Machan nearly holes out to Shafiqullah running in from the cover boundary. 45 needed from 24 balls. Any Scots fans out there got any nails left?

Alex Leggate: One of the major drawbacks of following #SCOvAFG, external#WorldT20, external in work is that there are no sofas to watch from behind.
Afghanistan may make the odd mistake, but they're giving it everything in the field and it's certainly appreciated by their hardy band of supporters. Rashid Khan (born on 20 September 1998, say the official records) spins down his last over, six largely sedate singles from it means Scotland need 51 from 30 balls. Rashid finishes with 2-28 from his four.

Ben Thapa: If Rashid Khan is 17, he must have had a really tough paper round. He looks about 35!
Amir Hamza to bowl his final over. (Looking at my notes, even though they've bowled exclusively spin from the sixth over onwards, Afghanistan are going to have to bowl at least one over of seam if this goes the distance). A couple of misfields in the circle allow Machan to scamper a couple of twos, but it's been a canny spell from Hamza which leaves Scotland needing 57 from 36 balls.
And that looks like Hamza calling it a day - he's limping off the field.

PitchedOutsideLeg: Boy in my primary school class,1959 named Scott Scott, from Inverness. We thought nothing of it. Odd though, thinking back.
Time for a captain's innings from Preston Mommsen, in at six. An edge brings him a single, but for the second successive over, Afghanistan's spin has only yielded four runs. Scotland (having lost four wickets for 24 runs in 3.5 overs) need 62 from 42 balls
Berrington st Shahzad b Rashid 8 (Sco 108-4)
Easily out, Mohammad Shahzad had the bails off before Berrington slid his back foot back behind the line. Out.
Stumping appeal against Berrington... they're going upstairs...
Left-arm spinner Amir Hamza back, feverishly spinning the ball from hand to hand between deliveries. Machan takes a fresh guard, the Scots muster four singles but some canny bowling means the target is now 66 from 48 balls.
