John Michael Poole: Think it's safe to say Scotland have no chance here! Afghanistan have easily 30-40 runs too much.

Harry Cunningham: Scotland had done well to limit Afghanistan before those last few overs, then they let it slip. Game on?

In case you missed it... Defending champions Sri Lanka have had a change of T20 captain, just before the tournament. Lasith Malinga has stepped down, with Angelo Mathews (who already leads the Test and one-day sides) taking his place. It comes hours after Sri Lanka's sports minister sacked the selectors...

So, we had some big hitting, two half-centuries, a couple of comedic run-outs and some great fielding. Isn't that what T20's all about?

And who's your shilling on at this stage?

  8. When to pull up a stump...published at 15:33 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2016

For those of you not familiar with the thinking behind Evans's run-out (pulling up a stump), here's the MCC (with the voice of Stephen Fry) to explain the Law in question...

Afghanistan batsman Mohammad Shahzad: "The wicket is very slow, but we have some good spinners and will hope to defend this total. I'm learning the helicopter shot from MS Dhoni."

  10. Afg 170-5published at 20 overs

Another shovel to long-on, only one possible this time. Dawlat finishes on three from two balls, Stanikzai on 55 from 50, and more importantly, Afghanistan on the landmark of 170 from 20 overs.

  11. Afg 169-5published at 19.5 overs

A single brings Dawlat on strike for the first time, he drills a two to long-on. Last ball coming up.

  12. 50 runs

50 for Asghar Stanikzaipublished at 19.3 overs

    Afg 166-5

Dawlat Zadran is the new batsman, but it's skipper Stanikzai taking every run possible here - a two brings up his fifty, and yet another ramp shot over the keeper brings him four. Davey is straying with his line here, another wide means this is a long over.

Shafiqullah run out 14 (Afg 158-5)

Big mix-up. Stanikzai scoops and misses, falls over, is left on the ground and Shafiqullah has set off like a gazelle from the non-striker's end... he's run out by the length of the pitch. (It was also signalled as a wide, but you can be run out or stumped off a wide).

  15. Afg 155-4 (Stanikzai 46 from 46 balls)published at 19 overs

More good bowling from Sharif - but he's out of luck as Shafiqullah inside-edges past the keeper for four. Last ball of the over, he tries to sweep and the ball flies off a top edge over the keeper for four more.

The skipper said before the game he felt 150 was a good score. They're past that with an over to go.

Christopher Beck: Pulled Ireland out of the hat for the company sweepstake - lesson 1 on how to waste £2 is now complete.

  17. Afg 147-4published at 18.4 overs

Nothing wrong with the new bat as Shafiqullah smears a good yorker away for one, while Stanikzai angles the bat to guide a single to third man, but some good work on the rope by Evans denies a second.

  18. Afg 145-4published at 18.2 overs

Sharif to bowl the penultimate over, a fumble in the field allows Stanikzai a second run, and we think the Afghans have been doing plenty of "scoop" practice as once more, the skipper attempts a flick over fine leg. Shafiqullah wants a change of bat between deliveries.

  19. dropped catch

    CLOSE!published at 18 overs

    Afg 142-4

Shafiqullah is the new batsman, but for now it's Evans to Stanikzai and he's bowling well, spearing the ball right into the blockhole for the Afghan captain to dig out. We've not had a boundary since the last ball of the 14th over. And there's nearly another wicket as Stanikzai heaves towards long-on and the ball bounces just in front of the fielder. Finally the boundary drought is ended as Shafiqullah belts the last ball of the over back past the bowler for four.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 17.1 overs

Nabi run out (Evans) 1 - Afg 133-4

Quick thinking from Scotland's Alasdair Evans - a straight drive from Stanikzai hits the stumps at the bowler's end, Naib is out of his ground and having collected the ball, Evans pulls a stump out of the ground with the ball in his hands to run him out.
