West Indies spinner Samuel Badree: "It's a special performance. We know Banglaore is a high-scoring ground. It's pleasing for me and the team.

"We just tried to execute our plans as best as possible. It's a pretty good surface. I don't think it's a 120 surface, but we still need to bat well to make the runs."

  4. SL 122-9published at 20 overs

Off the final ball, the Sri Lankans scamper through for a leg bye. And that is that. A real struggle for the defending champions, but the West Indies were terrific.

"The West Indians are making it look easy. Andre Russell is so calm. They are enjoying their cricket, which is an important part of their success."

  6. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 19.5 overs

    Perera c Russell b Bravo 40 (SL 121-9)

This is a demolition job. Perera's lone resistance is finally ended as he tries to heave Bravo over the top and picks out long on.

"Bravo had the presence of mind to respond immediately. He retrieved the ball and had the accuracy of the throw. He's such a livewire in the field."

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 19.4 overs

Herath run out (Bravo) 3 (SL 121-8)

Very good from Bravo. A dipping slower ball foxes Herath, the Sri Lankans try to scamper through, Bravo hunts down the ball, picks up, turns and throws down the non-striker's stumps.

    Former West Indies captain

"Gayle is such a big asset for the West Indies. They will take comfort from only conceding a modest total."

  10. SL 118-7published at 19 overs

Just to clear that up, we're not sure exactly what is wrong with Gayle, but the rules state that if you are off the field for a certain period of time, you can't come straight out and open the batting. Fletcher has opened in the past, he could be the man to step up...

  11. SL 118-7published at 19 overs

Herath is the new batsman. He clubs two into the leg side. Meanwhile, we're hearing that Chris Gayle has gone off the field for West Indies and will not be able to open the batting...

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 18.5 overs

    Kulasekara b Russell 7 (SL 115-7)

Good comeback from Andre Russell. He's under a bit of pressure when Perera heaves his second ball for four, but he strikes back with the wicket of Kulasekara, cleaned up attempting a big heave.

  13. SL 110-6 (Perera 33, Kulasekara 6)published at 18 overs

The seamers have not found it as easy as the spinners to keep things tight here. Brathwaite's final over costs 16 runs, giving him figures of 1-36 off his four overs.

  14. 6 runs

    SL 106-6published at 17.3 overs

Perera is playing a good lone hand for Sri Lanka here. He smears Brathwaite over backward point with a mistimed heave that just trickles over the boundary, then finally gets one out of the middle and deposits a pick-up into the stands at square leg.

  15. SL 94-6published at 17 overs

Brilliant from Bravo, these dipping, loopy deliveries are just impossible to smash. Another miserly over.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 16.2 overs

    Mathews c Ramdin b Bravo 20 (SL 91-6)

It's a tricky one for third umpire Simon Fry, because Mathews was in a crouch when he played the shot, but after an interminable succession of replays, he decides it was a fair delivery. Very unlucky for Mathews, and a big blow to Sri Lanka's hopes of some late-innings tonkage here.

  17. Third umpirepublished at 16.2 overs

What a strange dismissal this would be. Accidental full toss from Bravo, Mathews stoops to sweep it on the full, the ball comes off the top edge and Ramdin catches it. We're checking for height though...

  18. SL 90-5 (run rate 5.62)published at 16 overs

Now it's Brathwaite's turn to serve up a full toss, and Perera edges it past the keeper for four. Sri Lanka have got to try to turn on the burners here, both these batsmen can bang.

  19. Postpublished at 15:06 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March 2016

  20. SL 81-5published at 15 overs

Down the ground seems to be Sri Lanka's best bet at the moment - Benn errs with a full toss and Perera slams him straight for four. Terrific spell from Benn - just 13 runs from his four overs.
