Si Lomas: Not the first time Johan Cloete has given a shocker, he was awful in SA vs ENG series.

Stuart Mitchell: That is a stinker of a decision by the umpire, deserves to be dropped after that.

So, Chamara Kapugedera joins Lahiru Thirimanne at the crease.

"It's good work from Johnson Charles, who usually keeps wicket. Three balls in that over went to him. He's fielded well."

Chandimal run out (Charles) 16 (SL 32-2)

That is just great fielding. Chandimal knocked one into the off side and set off without looking, just as he did off the first ball of the match, and this time he doesn't get a reprieve. The throw from Charles is superb: flat, fast, right over the top of the bails, and Ramdin breaks the timbers. Big breakthrough for the West Indies.

  5. Third umpirepublished at 4.5 overs

Oh, hello! Brilliant from Johnson Charles, fizzing a flat throw into the stumps, sharp work from Ramdin, and I think Chandimal is gone here...

  6. Women's T20 - Ireland v Sri Lankapublished at 14:19 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March 2016

Meanwhile, Ireland are bowling after Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat in their Group A match in Mohali.

Ireland lost their opening match to New Zealand so are looking for their first win.

Earlier on West Indies beat Bangladesh by 49 runs in Group B.

SL 30-1 (run rate 7.50)published at 4 overs

Oh, that's an absolute shocker from Johan Cloete. The ball was going miles down the leg side. Dilshan is sitting in front of a laptop on the balcony, shaking his head, and I'm pretty sure it's not because he's just seen the Southampton score. However, Chandimal is undaunted, and whistles a front-foot pull into the stands at square leg.

"What an opening delivery from Carlos Brathwaite. Dilshan is not happy, but he's got to go."

    Dilshan lbw b Brathwaite 12 (SL 20-1)

Got 'im! Brilliant from Carlos Brathwaite, tailing in a yorker with his first delivery and rapping Dilshan on the pads. The umpire waits an age, and finally raises his finger. Dilshan looks furious. On second glance, it looked a bit leg-sidish...

  10. SL 20-0published at 3 overs

More tweak as Sulieman Benn replaces Russell. He has a huge role to play in this West Indies team, Benn, one that demands endurance and stamina. I am talking, of course, about his position as Chris Gayle's drinking buddy.

Cracking over from Benn, hanging the ball wide outside off stump and then firing it under the bats of the Sri Lankan openers. Just one from the over.

  11. SL 19-0 (Chandimal 6, Dilshan 11)published at 2 overs

Spin from the other end as Samuel Badree - the most economical bowler in the history of T20 internationals, with a career rate of 5.5 runs an over - takes the ball. He's plying a nice line, turning the ball away from the right-hander on off stump, and only gives up two runs from his first five deliveries. But then Chandimal gets on one knee and sweeps him over his shoulder to the fine-leg boundary.

  12. SL 13-0published at 1 over

A more sedate end to the over, with two leg byes and a dot ball. But that's a very good start for Sri Lanka.

  13. 6 runs

    SL 11-0published at 0.3 overs

Dilshan responds to that early heart-flutterer by pinging a six over deep square leg. And then he clips one through mid-on for four! What a start...

  14. SL 1-0published at 0.1 overs

Nearly a run-out first ball. Chandimal pushes to mid-off and sets off, Dwayne Bravo swoops on the ball like a pigeon on a discarded bag of chips and misses the stumps by a whisker! He was gone for all money...

OK, we're done now. Chandimal and Dilshan opening for Sri Lanka, Andre Russell with the new rock.

Two of the great anthems here. A jaunty calypso-style number, 'Rally Round the West Indies', then it's over to Sri Lanka's ditty. Critics have called it interminable. And sure, you could probably boil an egg, or write a five-act play, in the time it takes to finish. The mascots' eyes are beginning to betray a bit of tedium after five minutes or so. But is this not what the World T20 is all about? No? What do you mean we're here to watch cricket?!

  19. Never Vandersay never againpublished at 13:53

It's already been quite the tournament for Sri Lanka's Jeffrey Vandersay - even though he hasn't actually played yet.

Young leggie Vandersay was originally in the squad, then he was dropped on the eve of the tournament. But then fast bowler Lasith Malinga pulled out, and he was thrown into a bowl-off with two other bowlers to pick a replacement. Vandersay prevailed, was flown out yesterday, and now here he is.

Both these sides won their opening match, but it was the West Indies who did so in more convincing style, with Christopher Henry Gayle at his devastating best as they handed England an absolute towelling.

Gayle smashed an unbeaten hunded off 47 and then managed to look supremely unbothered about the whole palaver.

"It was a fantastic innings," he said modestly. "Sulieman Benn said to me I had to go out and entertain him - I need to entertain my team-mate and he's my drinking partner as well. I'm going to have a few beers tonight."
