  1. SL 73-5 (Mathews 16, Perera 9)published at 14 overs

Russell comes back - he went at 10 an over earlier, surely Sri Lanka have got to target him? Yep, that's the plan - Perera bludgeons him down the ground and picks up the first boundary for seven overs. It's still not a great over for Sri Lanka though - just six from it, and they're going to struggle to break 120 here...

  3. SL 67-5published at 13 overs

The Sri Lankan batsmen are like bugs preserved in aspic - they are not going anywhere. Benn, firing it in on a full length, rattles off four dots before Mathews and Perera finally manage a single apiece.

Greg Stern: What an aura about the Windies today! So good to see. Such a shame their Test team can't replicate it.

  5. SL 65-5 (run rate 5.41)published at 12 overs

Whatever the format, it is brilliant to see a West Indies side playing with confidence, panache, intensity and togetherness. They've been terrific so far. Bravo has a really nice slower ball that looks like a full toss when it comes out but then dips drastically on the batsman. A couple of wides blot his copybook but Sri Lanka still can't find the boundary. What's their gameplan here?

  7. SL 57-5published at 11 overs

Sulieman Benn, with his long, languid, catlike frame, returns to the attack. Sammy is the Mixmaster here, keeping Sri Lanka guessing, not allowing them to settle. Perera deflects one down to fine leg, where Chris Gayle stops it with a backheel. That was more casual than turning up to a job interview in your PJs.

  8. SL 54-5 (Mathews 7, Perera 2)published at 10 overs

Dwayne Bravo comes on as Sammy rings the changes again. His brand of medium pace also proves very hard to get away, just three singles and a two from that over. No boundary for four overs for Sri Lanka now.

  10. SL 49-5published at 9 overs

Thisara Perera is the new batsman. He starts with a single to midwicket, and Badree is done. That was a brilliant spell from one of the underrated maestros of T20.

"That was not good at all. Two play and misses, then a genuine edge."

    Siriwardana c Gayle b Badree 0 (SL 47-5)

With his lavishly gelled hairstyle, Badree looks a bit like a jazz singer of the 1950s, and he's got Sri Lanka dancing to his tune here. He slides a couple of googlies past the outside edge, then draws a regulation nick, which is gleefully pouched at slip by the Universe Boss. Brilliant, brilliant bowling.

"That was a windy woof. Reckless and out of control."

  14. wicket

Kapugedera st Ramdin b Badree 6 (SL 47-4)

Sri Lanka are falling apart here, and Badree is working some magic. Kapugedera charges down the pitch, has a huge swish and misses. Ramdin does the rest.

"Carlos Brathwaite is racing in. I've never seen him attack the crease in the manner that he is tonight."

  16. SL 47-3 (run rate 5.88)published at 8 overs

Carlos Brathwaite is really revved up here. A toe-crunching yorker is only just dug out by Kapugedera. Without the fielding restrictions, that boundary is suddenly looking harder and harder to find.

  17. SL 43-3published at 7 overs

The West Indies are buzzing in the field here, on their toes, whipping the ball in, the infield constricting around the Sri Lanka batsmen like a python around a warthog. They're squeezing the life out of Sri Lanka - just two off another excellent Badree over.

"Samuel Badree has come to life. It was a simple catch. From a strong start, Sri Lanka are wobbling."

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 6.1 overs

    Thirimanne c Fletcher b Badree 5 (SL 41-3)

West Indies are all over Sri Lanka here! Badree gets one to stick in the pitch and Thirimanne dollies a cut to point. Big rescue act for Angelo Mathews now...

  20. SL 41-2 (Thirimanne 5, Kapugedera 4)published at 6 overs

Thirimanne pulls Russell through midwicket, and then Kapugedera adds four more with a savage cut. Russell has been expensive so far, you can't bowl there, even if you do have an orange Mohican.
