  1. Aus 21-0 (1-4-4-4-0-4)published at 2 overs

What makes those boundaries all the more impressive is the distance to the rope on Khawaja's leg side. Good batting, awful bowling. Four more! Bumrah has his field set back on the leg side, but width allows Khawaja a late cut. A flyer for the Aussies.

  2. Aus 17-0published at 1.4 overs

Unusual for India to open with two seamers, but the new ball is doing a bit. Jasprit Bumrah is three times too short, each time pulled to the leg-side fence by Usman Khawaja. Fielders are running everywhere.

"Ashish Nehra's getting movement. This is his kind of wicket - he's not too tall so his deliveries can tend to skid on when they kiss the surface. I'm not sure Khawaja's technique is too great against left-handers."

  4. Aus 4-0published at 1 over

The ageless Nehra, left-armed sling-shot, finds movement away from fellow leftie Khawaja, who is swatting and swiping with feet stuck in concrete. Every dot ball is roared by what feels like the whole of India. Is the whole nation watching this match? Are the streets quiet? Do let me know.

"There'll be all sorts going through the Australia players' minds in this sort of atmosphere. But this is what you play for, this kind of occasion, with a place in the semi-finals up for grabs."

I'll mention this for no other reason than I wanted to share it with you. Earlier on I got caught with an Oxo cube in my glasses case. The reason? You never know when you might need gravy. My esteemed colleague Pat Jennings said it was the most northern thing he's ever seen. Usman Khawaja and Aaron Finch in the middle, Ashish Nehra has the ball. Mohali is rocking.

"The pressure is massively on India. It's a straight shootout, this is pretty much a quarter-final. There's a really big house and the crowd are already revved up from the women's game here earlier today."
