  1. ouch!

    Aus 41-0published at 5.1 overs

It really is all going wrong for England. Katharine Brunt sends in a throw, Natalie Sciver - who has just come on to bowl - isn't looking and it hits her right in the temple. Luckily it wasn't thrown too hard, so I think she'll be OK, but we pause for a bit of treatment.

"It is coming on nicely. These two have started very aggressive, and they are more aggressive than England players generally."

  3. Aus 41-0published at 5 overs

You can watch those boundaries from the first over now - just scroll down to the '1 over' entry for in-play highlights. England turn to spin, bringing on the off-breaks of Laura Marsh, but she can't stem the flow of runs, as Villani comes down the wicket at her and punches past mid-on for four.

"It is rare to see Anya Shrubsole getting hit around. When you haven’t been stretched in the tournament, getting attacked can change your temperament."

  5. Aus 35-0 (run rate 8.75)published at 4 overs

It's been all Healy so far but now Villani is in on the act. First she threads a cut shot through the off side to pick up her first boundary, then she drills Shrubsole through the covers when she slightly overpitches. And she makes it three boundaries off the over with a swipe over the infield on the leg side. Big problems for England here.

John Michael Poole: Can't see anything other than double disappointment for us today. Really hope I'm wrong.

James Bean: Today is a day of destiny go well England!

  8. Aus 23-0published at 3 overs

Healy - a keeper-batter in the typical diminutive-but-feisty mould - advances down the track and lofts Brunt over the top for four. A horrible misfield from Tammy Beaumont allows Australia to scamper through for two, before Healy, who has started like a bullet train, hammers a pull for four. Excellent start for Australia.

  11. Aus 11-0 (Villani 2, Healy 8)published at 2 overs

Anya Shrubsole - the top-ranked T20 bowler in the world - from the other end, and immediately she raps Villani in front and unleashes a huge LBW shout. Umpire Ravi not interested, might just have been doing too much. Plenty of swing there. Elyse Villani gets off the mark with a two past point, but then misses out on a wide one. That LBW shout was clipping, by the way...

"Solid start for Australia, I think they will be pleased with that."

  13. Aus 8-0published at 1 over

Delicious from Healy, served up on her legs and she clips it away imperiously. The pitch is tinged with green, like a patio that you haven't quite managed to pressure-wash all the moss off, but there's not too much movement for Brunt - and when she strays wide, Healy cuts powerfully to the boundary for another four.

Plenty of tension and suncream on faces. Both teams giving it some welly, but Advance Australia Fair seemed to get a much more bombastic brass accompaniment. I'd put in a letter of complaint...

Extra pyrotechnics for the semi-final. The teams process out with giant sparklers on either side. It's not enough to impress everybody though...

"I think with the group games it is about getting over the line. Both teams have done that, but I don’t think either team had a great group stage.

"England got through in two games by the skin of their teeth and Australia got beaten by New Zealand and struggled with the top order.

"These teams came into the tournament as the two top favourites but there is a little bit of a vulnerability in both."
