The start of Sussex's home game against Essex on Sunday was marked by a minute's silence in memory of pace bowler Matthew Hobden, who died in January at the age of 22 after celebrating New Year with friends.

The Sussex players all wore Hobden's number 19 on the opening day, and the county have also put up a permanent memorial at the County Ground.

Yes it looks certain that we will see an early finish at Old Trafford, but batsmen remain firmly on top at Lord's and Headingley, where draws appear to be on the cards.

In Division Two, Leicestershire are in a good position to register a confidence-boosting win to start their season, with Glamorgan only 93 ahead with two wickets standing. And there could be a very interesting day ahead at Hove with all three results still possible.

A total of 5,704 runs have been scored in the six County Championship matches over the past three days - enough to make all but the strongest-willed bowlers weep.

But among all the tons and double tons, one bowler has stood head and shoulders above his peers, Lancashire signing Neil Wagner, who punched holes through Nottinghamshire's strong batting line-up for match figures of 11-111.

The Red Rose county need to 86 runs to mark their return to Division One with a victory.

Welcome to our coverage of the final day of the second round of matches. Play gets under way at 11:00 BST.
