Tom Fordyce has wandered off, so it's Stephan Shemilt back in the chair for the evening session. A couple of things to tell you. One, in my break I had 10 minutes looking inside the Imperial War Museum. Two, I have returned with a huge slice of cake (from the canteen, not the museum).

Jack Byrne: 29 of us on a stag at Headingley tomorrow, do the Sri Lankan boys want to join us in the pubs of Leeds instead?

Samuel James Warner: No better opening bowling partnership in the world with these conditions.

Tom Griffiths: BRANDERSON nailing it in Headingley. And Boycott's singing. Nice.

"Pretty good bounce, squared up, took the shoulder of the bat. There was a big gap in the slips because he had a deep point."

    Chandimal 15*, Mathews 15*

Last over before tea, and James Vince will chug in for a surprise first over in Test cricket. Dirty old long-hop, smashed away by Mathews for four through backward point. Welcome, James. Single deflected to leg. Hello, tasty bouncer that skims Chandimal's shoulder. Another short one, edged... no! Just over gully's leaping fingers.

  9. SL 33-3published at 15:55 British Summer Time 20 May 2016

Stokes again, Chandimal watchful behind his dark blue helmet. He'll wear that short one on his hip, and watch an attempted inswinger stay straight and true outside off. Too full this time; Chanders down onto one knee to drill sweetly through the covers.

Broad for his seventh over on the bounce, Chandimal watchful. Time for some Finnage?

  11. SL 28-3published at 15:47 British Summer Time 20 May 2016

Time for some Ben Stokes. Charging in, three slips, good pace... my word, vicious late in-swinger, almost cleans Mathews up. Now one that goes the other way, Mathews fencing hopefully at a delivery that's already gone.

Broad, hair stuck up with perspiration. No-ball there, and then a pair of in-dippers that Chandimal covers comfortably.

Samuel: Round of applause around Headingley as the beer snake is thrown into the air. We'll be seeing it again shortly I'm sure.

Anderson keeps Mathews trapped for a maiden. One more for Broad?

Mathews, new willow in hand, steps back and crashes a cut through point for four. Good leaves and blocks from the experienced old boy.

  18. SL 23-3published at 15:31 British Summer Time 20 May 2016

Nasty lifter from Anderson, smashing into Chandimal's bottom hand. Revenge of sorts as he leans into a fuller one to clunk it past mid-off for his second boundary.

  19. SL 18-3published at 15:26 British Summer Time 20 May 2016

Chandimal wants a second where there isn't one, and does the quick reverse-ferret to make his ground. Mathews calling for a new bat, possibly to fend off his partner's wild-eyed advances.

Bairstow catching with Velcro and I'm off to coach after school cricket. Wasn't getting many reports done anyway. Save some wickets for the drive home!

Michael Vaughan says bounce ok for keepers, then Bairstow takes 3! MV, what are tonight's lottery numbers?
