  1. What time can play continue until?published at 11:08 British Summer Time 21 May 2016

    Andrew Samson
    BBC Test Match Special statistician

"We've got half an hour to make up from yesterday, and 15 minutes today already - so if there are no interruptions, play could go on until 19:15. But it could go beyond that if there are interruptions."

  2. Long day ahead?published at 11:08 British Summer Time 21 May 2016

There is a chance that we could be here for a while today. With no delays, we could stretch the day's play out past 7pm. And that includes a potential extra 30 minutes if England have a chance of closing out the game.

Hope you've stocked up on provisions.

Test Match Special is already under way (and has been since 10am), but if you want a pint-sized review of day two you only really have one option - our Pint-Sized TMS.

You can watch highlights from the second day's play, complete with the best bits from the Test Match Special commentary box - including the suggestion that Geoffrey Boycott as Pope would be the end of civilisation as we know it.

    Michael Vaughan
Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special

"England will hope it doesn't get to the stage where Stokes misses games, but if he does then then it might not be the end of the world if he misses some of this summer - against Sri Lanka and Pakistan."

  6. Man downpublished at 11:02 British Summer Time 21 May 2016

Michael Vaughan has suggested England may be a seamer down today. Ben Stokes has not been involved in the football warm-up and the word is he has a cartilage problem with his knee.

  7. 'Perfect conditions for bowling'published at 10:58 British Summer Time 21 May 2016

England bowler Stuart Broad on Sky Sports: "Conditions were great for bowling yesterday and hopefully that will stay the same. I've not bowled in many better conditions that that.

"I tried to come wider of the crease to draw the batsman into playing and bring the edge in. We talked about going for the knee-roll height.

"The follow-on wasn't something we thought we'd have to consider. But the word was that the conditions would be bad today. I'm not a fan of following on but it seems like a good decision."

    Best bowling partnerships

Michael Vaughan suggests Anderson and Broad are as good as any bowling partnership. Together they have 640 wickets in 84 matches at an average of 27.98 and a strike-rate of 56.9.

Compare that to Ian Botham and Bob Willis, who took 476 wickets in 60 matches at an average of 25.18 and a strike-rate of 53.6.

So, who do you think are the best bowling partnership in cricket history?

"Anderson and Broad bowled so well. You can talk about the greats - Botham and Willis, Walsh and Ambrose, McGrath and whoever he bowled with - and I can say, thankfully I was sat up here commentating yesterday rather than facing that combination."

"Sri Lanka might last a little bit longer than they did in the first innings. They are a team in transition. They have lost Sangakkara, Jayawardene, Dilshan, and it won't get any tougher than it was yesterday - under lights, on a pitch with swing and seam and a bit of bounce.

"Can they learn from it? "We know they are quick learners. And on this tour they have got to learn from every innings, every day, every game."

It was a case of anything you can do, we can do much, much better yesterday.

Prior to the Bairstow and Hales rescue mission, Sri Lanka had England on the ropes on day one, mainly because of three wickets in eight balls from seamer Dasun Shanaka on his Test debut.

On day two, England showed the tourists how to finish the job in emphatic fashion as Broad nipped the ball about and Anderson swung it round corners.

If we do get a decent amount of play today, the worry for Sri Lanka will be that this Test will be over before Sunday.

BBC Weather's Thomas Schafenacker: "The atmosphere is very volatile today and it's very difficult to predict when the rain will strike - but in the next two or three hours there's a good chance we will see some rain and a really hefty shower. The biggest danger today will be the light.

"Tomorrow, my bet is it will brighten up tomorrow and it should stay dry."

Well, there's good news and there's bad news.

The good news is that England have a firm grip on this match thanks largely to Jonny, Jimmy and Stuart.

The bad news is that Leeds is a tad wet this morning.
