  1. Pak 201-6 (Sarfraz 40, Yasir 22)published at 18:02

Applause inside HQ as Pakistan bring up 200. I thought this morning that if they got to 220, that would be too many. Finn begs Kumar Dharmasena when Yasir is hit on the front pad, but I think he got outside the line. This pair have put on 33, but both have had lives. Have a look at these dropped catches...

Anand Dahihandekar: The Test match of poor wicketkeeping

Leigh Marshall: Has Bairstow just dropped the Test? Time for a keeper who can catch.

Scott Lennon: Buttler has to be brought in to this side. Better keeper than Bairstow and better batsman than Vince and Ballance.

Matty Hernandez: I don't think Bairstow is a decent wicket keeper.

  3. Pak 199-6 (lead by 266)published at 17:58

I'm starting to think this game might have slipped away from England. Still four wickets to take, lead growing all the time, balance between saving runs and taking wickets looking very difficult as Yasir guides yet another boundary to third man. Eight overs left in the day, if we can fit them in before 18:30.

I've never been a fast bowler but that's frustrating. He's bowled as well as he can. He should have been looking on the back of a wicket, and potentially bowling at Mohammad Amir.

  5. dropped catch

Sarfraz dropped on 36published at 17:53

    Pak 196-6

You can hear the howls of derision now. Jonny Bairstow's run of missing at least one chance per Test match continues to give Sarfraz Ahmed a life. It's straightforward too. Meaty edge from the unlucky Steve Finn, low to Bairstow's right but, frankly, he never looks like catching it. How big might that be? Liberal salt applied to Finn's wound by two Yasir boundaries.

Shah has got something about him as a cricketer, not just with his bowling or batting, but in the field as well. He's a gutsy player.

  7. Pak 183-6 (Sarfraz 36, Yasir 8)published at 17:49

Broad to Yasir, testing out the middle of the pitch with the fielder at square leg out, then in. There's just not quite enough pace in this pitch to hurry the tailenders. Clouds overhead, then sunshine, shadows being cast as we march into the evening. Maiden.

Finn bowled pretty well today. It's the best we've seen of him for quite a while. He's in better rhythm.

  9. Pak 183-6 (lead by 250)published at 17:44

Geoffrey in Matilda? He'd be the Trunchbull, right? Finn again, kicking towards the members with the crowd involved in every ball. Yasir jams down on a yorker, getting it past the dive of gully and to the third man boundary for four. Songs from the few Pakistan fans. The chase will be in excess of 250.

Cheaper to go to the theatre than it is to come to Lord's. It was cheaper when I went the other day. I saw Matilda.

Now it's Stuart Broad back on, also getting the benefit of the roar of the crowd. Sarfraz looks for the cut, the shot that was his downfall in the first innings, sternly talking to himself as an order to concentrate. More noise from the crowd, this is about as atmospheric as it gets at Lord's. There are 12 overs left tonight.

The crowd enjoyed that. The crowd nearly bought him a wicket. It wasn't a half-volley. It's the lowest of chances. Broad a very tall man diving full length forward, It's a very difficult chance.

  13. dropped catch

Yasir dropped on 2published at 17:34

    Pak 174-6

It almost does the trick! At the end of a very good Finn over, with the crowd right behind him, Yasir almost chips the ball to mid-off. Stuart Broad, like a wobbly giraffe, can't quite get his fingers underneath it. Finn would have deserved that.

Yasir Shah is a good number eight. He's got half a technique on him. He's a lot better than Wahab who comes out swinging. I think Wahab should come in at number 10. I think Amir should come in next.

  15. Pak 174-6published at 17:33

Steven Finn has only bowled seven of England's 65 overs, but is eventually asked to break this partnership. Bit of evening sunshine as Yasir plays a loose cut shot, then pokes outside the off stump, then plays a flat-footed force. Three times playing and missing. Yasir playing a lot of shots but not making a lot of contact. Crowd finally wakes up, roaring Finn in....

You don't want a spurt of runs. In low-scoring games, that hurts. A quick 20 or 30, that really hurts.

  17. Pak 174-6 (65 overs)published at 17:29

Very sleepy feeling to this evening session at Lord's, which is at odds with the state of the game. England striving for wickets to keep that chase managable, Pakistan digging in. The bowling is tight, runs at a premium. It just feels like something is about to give...

Woakes is bowling such a lovely, rhythmical line. It's beautiful.

  19. Pak 174-6 (lead by 241)published at 17:25

Woakes is tormenting Yasir here, using the width of the crease to play tricks with his outswinger. Do I need to play, can I leave it? Some prodding outside off stump almost brings an edge. A chap on the front row takes a selfie. It was mostly beard. Another old fella has fallen asleep with his pipe in his mouth. Is that safe? Is pipe smoking even allowed inside Lord's?

There's something marvellous about low-scoring Test matches. They are always the best. They stimulate everybody and keep you on the edge of your seat.
