England captain Alastair Cook: "That 75-run margin is the first innings. We left a few out there when the pitch was best to bat on. We paid the price for that.

"We were always slightly behind. I thought we were OK on the first day, then Yasir getting six wickets hurt us.

"Woakes was outstanding, he doesn't deserve to be on the losing side.

"There's a bitter taste in the dressing room because a few of the guys would like to do better."

I do understand that they grow up playing so much 50-over cricket, that it’s not easy. But you look at some of the shots they played it’s like one-day shots.

England captain Alastair Cook on TMS: "I don’t think we’ve seen the dressing room as pleased for anyone else as they are for Chris Woakes. He gets wickets and runs, he played beautifully with the bat. It's brilliant for him, there's competition for places and that’s good for the team.

"He’s always been a brilliant cricketer. When he first came back against Sri Lanka I didn't think we had seen the best of him at international level. Whatever extra things he’s done is brilliant."

I think it was an honest interview from Cook. History says how difficult it is to get over 280 in the fourth innings. He was honest there. Look at Woakes, who had the composure and discipline.

Our batsmen block a couple of balls and then somehow they have to hit it for four. It’s like one-day cricket.

More from Alastair Cook on TMS: "It was a great day’s cricket. It’s been a really good Test. It ebbed and flowed. Neither side grabbed the initiative. Pakistan always had their noses ahead.

"It hurts, you never like losing at Lord’s at any stage."

England captain Alastair Cook on TMS: "It’s never nice to lose, and by so many runs. It’s a tough pill to take.

"Chasing 280 you need someone to get a hundred and people to bat around him. The game was lost in the first two days. We allowed Yasir to get six wickets when he wasn’t turning the ball. It cost us.

"We needed to go past them in the first innings to have a chance. I’m pleased with yesterday’s bowling and fielding. Today it was going to be tough but we had some naïve shots."

The biggest moment? Have a look at this. Jonny Bairstow battled for so long, mostly in the company of Chris Woakes. Just when England might have been allowing themselves to believe, Bairstow somehow missed a long hop.

Yesterday was a wonderful day as well as today. Even Friday was good. Nothing really lasting in my memory from the first day. But after that it was interesting all the time. I wanted to watch every ball. Interested in the nuances. Frankly when the important moments came Pakistan won most of them. Thoroughly deserved to win.

I think if Jimmy Anderson is fit and raring to go he comes back doesn't it? Ben Stokes does he come back? He might. I was impressed with Jake Ball. He was good on debut, and very unlucky. On another day he could have got three or four.

Chris Etheridge: Well played Pakistan. Woakes was great, but disappointing batting from England. Hope for a better display at Old Trafford.

Jack of all trades: England top order did not deliver. They got exposed, they have faced plenty of easy bowling these past few years.

Perhaps batting wise you give Vince another one or two chances? Maybe if he sharpens up his play outside the off stump and learns to leave the odd one or two.

Even today, England slumped to 139-6. Bairstow and Woakes added 56, but there wasn't much else. They weren't helped by batting like this...

The difference in the end? 75 runs. At one point on Friday, England were 118-1. Not long after they were 193-6. That is where the game was lost.

Jason Cole: Got to feel for Woakes. Rest of the team have let him down.

Stoney: I know you win as a team and lose as a team but two very poor shots from Joe Root have shaped both England innings.

It's obviously had a big effect, this 10 press-ups they decided to do before the series. The thing that surprised me, the bowling we knew was going to be a factor, it was the way they went about it. When the chips were down and they needed someone like Shafiq and wicketkeeper Sarfraz to get the runs. At crucial periods they got stuck in.

This is an incredible celebration. Pakistan have lined-up, military-style, with Younus Khan playing the sargeant major. They drop to give press-ups, then leap into star jumps. The Lord's crowd laps it up.

Fantastic Test match. Well bowled Pakistan. Unlucky England. Two loose shots in that innings. But 283 was always going to be too much to chase. Pakistan deserved winners.
