England have been pretty much shotless for a long time now. The usually free-scoring Bairstow has a strike-rate of 34, Woakes is only just above 10. In the crowd, a lady in a floral dress pours the red wine - a stiff drink is a good idea. Wahab goes past the edge again, this time it's Jonny Bairstow playing and missing. And again! Edge short of slip. England's day?

You feel as if it's only a matter of time - it's doing plenty out there.

Sun out now, tension levels rising. It's the Pakistan fans who are singing as Yasir begins a new over, but they are drowned out by cheers when Bairstow paddles for three. Another edge! Woakes just short of slip again. Difficult, difficult times, the sort Dido made a career singing about.

That was a tremendous dangle of the carrot from Wahab and it fell just short of Asad Shafiq.

So, so close. Wahab comes round the wicket, more shape away from Woakes, who can't resist the drive. An edge, inches short of the man at third slip. All happening.

Ali Najefi: We still have Finn & Broad to bat. This is one of the gutsiest generations of England teams. I reckon it's game on.

Thanks, Bibhash. Pakistan still favourites here, but stick another 30 runs on and bottoms will get squeakier. Wahab is reversing it around corners, twice beating flashy drives of Woakes, the second very close to a nick off. In the meantime, Wahab gets a second and final warning for running on the pitch. Any more of that and he'll be taken out of the attack....

This England pair have done remarkably well to stay there - the quality of bowling in the last hour or so has been extremely high.

Bairstow has to shuffle about on his back foot to that Yasir over, and one attempted cut nearly bounces back and on to his stumps. Careful there, Jonny! I’ve just realised Yasir’s sporting a very neat goatee as well under his bottom lip. This Pakistan team wins on the facial hair category nevermind the match.

Back to Bairstow, if he wants fours, maybe wait for the bad balls like this one below?

And on that note, I bring you Stephan Shemilt. Alvida, everybody!

Warning for Wahab. It's official now. The first caution for the Pakistan seamer, who strays on to the middle of the pitch more times than the umpire is willing to let go.

Wahab's Mitchell-Johnson-esque action is good to watch, but the extra aggression also brings a front-foot no-ball, the first of the innings.

Yasir too seems to have taken his foot off the gas a bit. Much like Rahat. It's a straightforward maiden, and yes you guessed it, Woakes again the man for England. A dull-ish phase? Maybe we need the pigeon back to liven things up.

Bairstow relieves some of the pressure with the first four in more than 11 overs. Rahat strays down the leg side and it's a simple glance to the fine leg ropes.

Pakistan remain keen to emphasise the "patience" procedure and wicketkeeper Sarfraz the loudest to convey that message.

If these two can get it down to 100 to win, you start dissecting it a little. It would only be a couple of 20 or 30 partnerships.

  17. How's stat?!published at 16:19 British Summer Time 17 July 2016

Chris Woakes has become rather fond of Lord’s, both in terms of batting and bowling.

He’s currently averaging 106 from his four Test innings there with the bat.

Woakes is also averaging just 10 with the ball at the home of cricket in Tests.

  18. Eng 157-6published at 16:18 British Summer Time 17 July 2016

Yasir continues to grin like only he can. The battle with Woakes goes on, but it's the England batsman who sees out a maiden without much trouble.

  20. Eng 157-6 (Rahat 13-0-43-3)published at 16:14 British Summer Time 17 July 2016

Rahat gets two slips and a gully. He's gone off the boil a bit since his surge towards three wickets early on in the innings. Cook and Steven Finn have a chat on the Lord's balcony. Plenty would love to be a fly on the wall for that one I'm sure.
