Don't ask me about Moeen's shot, it's unprintable. I think Yasir would like a few more to come in like that.
Pakistan 1-0 up in four-match series
Yasir finishes with 10 wickets in the match
Bairstow 48, Ballance 43, Vince 42
Pakistan 339 & 215, England 272

Yasir tweaks out another maiden for his figures. Moeen's shot is getting plenty of criticism on the Twitter and text thingamachines. So is that the worst shot you've ever seen? Sir Geoffrey would rather keep his true description of that shot to himself.... just to get you in the mood.

Ugh, surely that should be it for Moeen? Aside from that one hundred recently, his batting has been horrible, and he now averages over 41 with the ball at a terrible economy rate. With the advent of Woakes and Stokes to return, we've got loads of all-rounders, surely we can now pick a specialist spinner, not a bits and pieces cricketer, who's just not good enough at either discipline for Test cricket?

The sunshine returns. But will it provide any respite? Well, Pakistan bowler Rahat's name roughly translates to 'relief' so not sure about that. He removed three England batsmen earlier and grunts his way into a new spell. Crowd get into the spirit and the noise rises as Rahat runs up. Woakes holds firm.

Thomas Broadley: If I played that Moeen Ali shot for my club on a weekend I'd expect to be dropped. So irresponsible given the state of the game.
Matt Swift: Borthwick for Old Trafford please.
Nick: What does Ali offer the side that Rashid doesn't? Rashid is the better bowler and better batsman.
The first boundary in exactly five overs comes with a sweetly-timed effort off Bairstow's bat. Super shot, as the Yorkshireman leans forward to a fuller delivery from Amir and strokes it through cover. Plenty of sombre faces in the crowd of an England persuasion.

I like Woakes' method of playing Yasir. He plays with the spin, towards where the field is. That's the easiest way. That makes a statement to the bowler that you're not nervous.
Yasir going for a fuller length to Chris Woakes, who remember faced 51 first-innings balls from the leg-spinner and emerged unscathed. How England could do with some of that patience right now.
And just to emphasise the point, or the anti-thesis of it, here's Moeen's rush of blood against Yasir for your viewing.

I look at the England team and there's nothing drastically wrong with the technical side of the game, it's just their minds.
Pakistan players are now shouting "we don't need to do this quickly guys". Hopefully England can't decipher the Hindi otherwise they'd feel like the salt was being rubbed in.
But it just shows how much Pakistan are brimming with confidence. Much like Misbah the batsman toyed with Moeen in the first innings, Misbah the captain is ready to toy with England's batsman. Commander strokes his beard like Marlon Brando in the Godfather and Amir huffs and puffs to concede one from the over.

Everything is rushed and tense, it's edge-of-your-seat stuff. It just needs somebody to stick there and play.
Shouts of "we shall keep our patience and get them together" from the Pakistani players. Moeen could have used some of that sage advice. I'm about 94% sure he'd shut his eyes and attempted a home run before being bowled. Never got to the pitch of the ball from Yasir, who is now grinning from ear to ear. Never mind that sweat, he's sniffing blood now.

That's awful. We were talking about Misbah's shot yesterday and this is equally as bad. It's the fourth ball he's faced and he's tried to hit that to the zoo. This game is done. England are an exciting team, but you need more than flamboyant strokeplay.
Moeen b Yasir 2 (Eng 139-6)
Bowled 'im! Moeen premediated that shot before cricket was born and charged down like a man on a misson. Unfortunately, Yasir's crystal ball was spot on and a tinge of slowness and turn does Moeen over. Bowled through bat and pad.
If he'd hit that, it would have landed at St John's Wood station.
Inevitable comparisons for Yasir's wicket with not one but two of Shane Warne's wickets from days gone by. Certainly worth another watch if you're a fan of saying ball-of-the-century.
Almost as a side story, Amir's first ball to new man Moeen Ali yields a single.

Pakistan are the hardest team in the world to come in against. They are like bees, buzzing around, so confident.
Ballance got a massive hug from Younus after that wicket. Bet he felt that. But Pakistan will be feeling the beginning of the end is in sight. It took Yasir 12.2 overs to get his first wicket this innings. Needed just 4.3 in the first.

It's a big spinner. He goes right across his stumps, it spins sharply and clips the leg stump. It was a promising innings, but a trend for England. No one is playing an innings of substance.
Ballance b Yasir 43 (Eng 135-5)
Two deliveries, two different results. Ballance pulls Yasir for four on the leg side off the first ball of the over. Next delivery, exactly the same, Ballance steps to the off side and is bowled past his backside! Shades of a certain Warne to Strauss I'm led to believe.
Amir sees out his second maiden. It's gone a bit grey-ish now, not so much sunshine as before. The crowd have gone fairly quiet as well. Just a gentle smattering of murmurs.
