England were never really getting their anger shots to work sadly. Pakistan weren't bowling anything overly dangerous and the pitch had no demons. Root and Buttler fell trying the force the issue.

In case you missed any of the action, here's a quick recap, starting with the wickets of Jason Roy and Alex Hales, who combined for 56 which was the highest partnership of the innings.

Director of England cricket Andrew Strauss on the England tour to Bangladesh: "If you go back a few weeks, we had the security briefing with the players and my message to them was to take it all in, spend some time going over the whole thing, digest it and ask any questions you have off the back of it. That has been difficult to do as they have also been focused on what they had to do in the current series against Pakistan."

I would be tempted to open with the spinner - possibly Rashid - just to try something different and get a Pakistan wicket. They are going to need a bit of a miracle because that is well below par.

The first thought is that England are horrifically short. Look at the Pakistan players come together. They are very pleased with their work.

Not much luck for England in this final over. Pakistan are so delighted they meet in the middle of the ground for a team huddle before walking off. England have struggle to a below-par total.

I'll be there for you! Shoaib Malik lends his buddy Babar Azam a helping hand, two in fact. Babar goes down with what appears to be a hamstring niggle and looks in a bit of discomfort. Shoaib has bigger fish to fry, and he carries the man all the way to the boundary rope and deposits him in front of the physios.

    Willey c Malik b Wahab 11 (Eng 132-7)

David Willey wildly slashes at Wahab's pacey delivery but it goes high up into the Manchester sky meets some birds, bees and twin-engined airplanes and lands safely in Malik's hands. Willey is held back for a second to check for the no-ball but Wahab is safe.

I think Pakistan have taken momentum from that last ODI. And with a new captain I always think you have a honeymoon period.

Strange scenes in the dusk as Moeen steps out to about eighth stump on the leg side but Amir still gets the ball to beat him under the bat. In fact, Amir thought there was a noise and even celebrated a bit, but eventually gave it up. Not much revealed on the replays. Moeen then takes one on the stomach trying to pull a slower delivery. He still manages to sneak a single though. Fair play sir.

Here's Stokes' wicket by the way. England still trying the big shots but just not connecting.

England still have a lot of work to do.To be semi-competitive they need to be at 150. They have wickets in the tank and bat down to 11.

Tanvir, with hands thrusting upwards like a gymnast preparing for a floor routine, responds with an excellent slower delivery later in the over to bamboozle Moeen, who can also see the funny side of it. But that back-of-the-hand effort from Tanvir is mint.

  14. Eng 122-6published at 17.3 overs

Whack! That'll relieve the pressure a bit. David Willey searches for an exit from the stadium by launching Tanvir way over mid-wicket. It's just short of going for six, but very much a welcome shot regardless.

Pakistan have done their homework after a couple of absolute maulings by England. They will delighted with this.

Mike Bell: Not great by England. Rather than play above intense atmosphere, have been sucked into it and consequently snatched at shots.

bROCKerz: Eoin Morgan. The last remnant of a bygone England era.

Another excellent over for Pakistan, and the noise levels have reached pre-match levels again. Mohammad Amir nearly gets the place rocking like an Iron Maiden concert with a loud appeal for lbw on Moeen Ali. The ball was angling across, and replays show it would have clipped leg stump (umpire's call) but well worth a shout.

  18. Eng 110-6published at 16 overs

Well, we head into the final four overs now. England will need some gargantuan overs to set any sort of competitive total. Like shots that clear the stadium and land in the Old Trafford tram stop outside the ground.

Not like the one that Buttler failed with.

I don't know what the speed on that was but it was quick. You saw Sarfraz take it at chest height. Wahab has got his tail up and England are really struggling. They will get 140-150 if they are lucky.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 19:45 British Summer Time 7 September 2016

    Morgan c Sarfraz b Wahab 14 (Eng 110-6)

What is going on? England can't get a shot in anger to fall right. Morgan tries a typical guided shot but it's edged back to the keeper. To be fair, Morgan has somewhat struggled with that shot this summer, and this kind of sums it. He tried to get low but is beaten for pace and it takes the edge.
