Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed: "I would have liked to bat but the toss is not in your hands. I am excited about today's match. Two debutants - Babaz Azam and Hasan Ali. I hope we can finish on a high note."

  2. Captain's viewpublished at 18:05 British Summer Time 7 September 2016

England captain Eoin Morgan: "We'll have a bat first. The weather has been really good last few days. Hopefully the pitch plays as well as it looks.

"It's good to have everybody available. It will be great to finish on a high with a strong side out. The majority of the guys are in good nick. It's a one-off game but producing that tonight is important.

"Alex Hales is back at the top of the order. Jason Roy and Jos Buttler it depends on the situation."

Wonderful atmosphere both inside and outside Old Trafford, where Pakistan fans are outnumbering England and having a right old shindig. Flags, horns, half-and-half scarves (surely a first at a cricket match?) and even a party bus. I hear it's a sell-out and asked a tout how much his going rate is. "I'm buying mate," was the answer. When even the touts are struggling, you know tickets are scarce.

This evening sees the end of what has been a long tour for Pakistan. After a strong showing in the Test series, things faltered in the one-dayers, although they did manage to avoid suffering a five-game whitewash in Cardiff.

Here they have one last chance to end matters on a high - with a victory in this winner-takes-all T20 showdown in Lancashire.

Pakistan's T20 ranking is more like their lowly ODI spot than their number one Test status. They currently reside seventh on the list, two places lower than England. On paper, then, this should be close.

England's recent big-hitting, record-setting ways in limited overs cricket have clearly not gone unnoticed by the Australians. Just a week after Eoin Morgan's men struck 444 against Pakistan in the third ODI at Trent Bridge, Glenn Maxwell helped his side smash 263-3 against Sri Lanka in Pallekele.

During their innings they struck 14 sixes and went at 13.15 an over. Great Scott.

But you wouldn't put it past this England side to go out and beat it today with some serious aerial hitting of their own at Old Trafford. Roads? Where we're going we don't need roads.

Yes, I watched Back to the Future last night.
