    Rory BurnsImage source, Empics

And the last of our eight games reaches its conclusion for the day, as Surrey reach 50-0 in response to Lancashire's 287.

Rory Burns is leading the reply on 33, with Dom Sibley set to restart tomorrow on 10.

  4. Division Two round-uppublished at 18:45 British Summer Time 23 August 2016

    Leicestershire 238 v Essex 13-2

Essex lose nightwatchman Jamie Porter for a duck after seeing Alastair Cook bowled for four, closing 226 runs behind promotion rivals Leicestershire.

Northants dominated the first day against Worcestershire, thanks mostly to Rob Keogh's brilliant 154, reaching stumps at 345-6.

Sussex resume tomorrow on 111-1 in reply to Glamorgan's 252, while Hardus Viljoen takes his fifth wicket on his Kent debut to bowl Gloucestershire out for 221 at close of play.

  5. Stumps at Durhampublished at 18:31 British Summer Time 23 August 2016

    Durham 207 v Warwickshire 25-1

Warwickshire will be happy with their efforts on day one against Durham, having made the hosts bat first at Chester-le-Street.

Jeetan Patel, the County Championship's leading wicket taker, did the damage once again with a five-wicket haul.

Durham will need to replicate the visitors' performance with the ball tomorrow to stay in contention, and they'll take confidence from Varun Chopra's late dismissal as the Bears started their reply.

  6. wicket

WICKET Cook (b Klein 4)published at 18:27 British Summer Time 23 August 2016

    Leicestershire 238 v Essex 10-1

    Alastair Cook is out!

Dieter Klein, making his first appearance for Leicestershire in first-class cricket, clean bowls the England captain with an inswinging yorker.

Jamie Porter takes to the crease as nightwatchman.

There have been some excellent suggestions for our Olympics-themed XI today, but this one takes the gold for me.

I'll have the full teamsheet for you after all today's games have finished.

  8. Close of play at Scarboroughpublished at 18:12 British Summer Time 23 August 2016

    Yorkshire 282 v Nottinghamshire 38-2

It's finely-poised at close of play between Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire at Scarborough, where the visitors really ought to have been well on top.

Notts had Yorkshire in dire straits at 51-6, before letting them off the hook with tail-enders Azeem Rafiq and Jack Brooks making half-centuries and Andy Hodd scoring an unbeaten 96.

To make matters worse, Jake Libby and Tom Moores have both lost their wicket late in the day, leaving them 250 runs behind with eight wickets in hand.

  9. Stumps at Hampshirepublished at 18:04 British Summer Time 23 August 2016

    Hampshire 281-6 v Somerset

Hampshire looked in trouble at 92-4 after choosing to bat first against Somerset at Taunton, but Sean Ervine's 103 helps them recover to 281-6 at close.

Lewis McManus will resume tomorrow unbeaten on 41, alongside Gareth Berg who has 12 runs to his name.

  10. Division Two round-uppublished at 17:57 British Summer Time 23 August 2016

    Leicestershire 238 v Essex

Jamie Porter has his fourth wicket, and Leicestershire are all out for 238 in their promotion battle with leaders Essex. England captain Alastair Cook is set to open the batting for Essex in a few minutes' time.

Sussex opener Chris Nash has just reached 50 as his side progress to 90-0 in reply to Glamorgan's 252, while Northants are three overs away from stumps on 337-6 against Worcestershire.

Hardus Viljoen's terrific debut performance for Kent has just got even better - the South African paceman has taken a fourth wicket to leave Gloucestershire 208-8.

  11. wicket

WICKET Keogh (run out 154)published at 17:43 British Summer Time 23 August 2016

    Northamptonshire 331-6 v Worcestershire

Worcestershire's bowlers had no answers to Rob Keogh today, but a sharp bit of fielding from Ed Barnard sees him run out for a magnificent 154 at New Road.

The pears' next priority will be to remove Steven Crook, who is going along very nicely with 77 from 113 deliveries.

  12. wicket

Durham all out for 207published at 17:39 British Summer Time 23 August 2016

    Durham 207 v Warwickshire

Graham Onions is the last man out for Durham against Warwickshire, caught behind off Jeetan Patel, who finishes with figures of 5-32.

Warwickshire will have 12 overs to see out before close of play tonight.

  13. wicket

WICKET Libby (lbw b Brooks 0)published at 17:32 British Summer Time 23 August 2016

    Yorkshire 282 v Nottinghamshire 1-1

This isn't what Nottinghamshire would have planned for their response at Scarborough.

Jake Libby is given out leg-before to Jack Brooks for a golden duck, after Ryan Sidebottom had bowled a maiden first over.

Debutant Tom Moores, son of former England head coach Peter Moores, comes in at number three.

  14. wicket

WICKET Ervine (lbw b Leach 103)published at 17:30 British Summer Time 23 August 2016

    Hampshire 244-6 v Somerset

Sean Ervine celebrates his second century of the County Championship season, but he's removed lbw by Somerset spinner Jack Leach soon after to leave Hampshire six down for 244 runs.

  15. wicket

Yorkshire all out for 282published at 17:21 British Summer Time 23 August 2016

    Yorkshire 282 v Nottinghamshire

Andy Hodd takes a single off the first ball of Brett Hutton's 15th over to move on to 96, but two balls later Ryan Sidebottom is bowled to end the Yorkshire innings.

Hodd's score is his best since joining Yorkshire in 2012, but he'll be disappointed not have reached three figures.

Nottinghamshire might have taken this total at the start of the day after putting Yorkshire in to bat, though they ought to have bowled them out sooner after reducing the hosts to 51-6 earlier.

A last call for you to send in your Olympics XI cricketers using #bbccricket.

It's quite a team already, though one or two more batsmen wouldn't hurt.

  17. wicket

WICKET Brooks (b Hutton 48)published at 17:10 British Summer Time 23 August 2016

    Yorkshire 281-9 v Nottinghamshire

No half-century for Jack Brooks, but still an excellent effort with the bat from the Yorkshire seamer before he plays on to his stumps off Brett Hutton.

Andy Hodd is unbeaten on 95 - will he run out of partners before he can complete his century?

  18. wicket

WICKET Lilley (c Foakes b Meaker 38)published at 17:06 British Summer Time 23 August 2016

    Lancashire 239-9 v Surrey

    Stuart MeakerImage source, Empics

Lancashire's innings is drawing to a close at the Oval, where Stuart Meaker gets his third wicket of the day when he draws Aaron Lilley into edging through to the wicketkeeper.

Durham are now eight down at home to Warwickshire, with Jeetan Patel and Keith Barker picking up three wickets apiece for the Bears. The score is 190-8 at Chester-le-Street.

  19. Division Two round-uppublished at 16:57 British Summer Time 23 August 2016

    Leicestershire 204-7 v Essex

Leicestershire have lost Ben Raine for 17 since tea, but they've also picked up their first bonus point as they push beyond 200.

Sussex have made a positive start in their reply to Glamorgan's 252 at Cardiff, scoring 42 from their first 11 overs.

Recently-crowned T20 Blast champions Northants are well top of Worcestershire on 283-5, while Gloucestershire are 170-5 at Bristol with 22 overs left in the day against Kent.
