  1. Eskinazi off the markpublished at 12:05 British Summer Time 20 September 2016

    Middlesex 71-3 v Yorkshire

Oh my, that is pure timing from Steve Eskinazi. He steps forward and punches David Willey through the covers for four to get off the mark.

We've seen some gorgeous strokes this morning from the Middlesex batsman - yet you still feel it's been Yorkshire's day so far.

Gubbins then finishes Bresnan's over with another magnificent cover drive to the boundary.

    His sixth four.

    Middlesex 63-3 v Yorkshire

You simply can't bowl there to Nick Gubbins today. Steven Patterson fires one in on the left-hander's pads and he clips it to the boundary.

Gubbins is up to 29 and probably the key to this innings you feel.

  5. Division Two round uppublished at 11:52 British Summer Time 20 September 2016

The match between the top two, Essex and Kent, at Canterbury is delayed until at least after lunch because of a wet outfield.

Leicestershire are struggling on 49-5 against Glamorgan at Grace Road - Timm van der Gugten with three wickets. The Dutch paceman now has 50 wickets for the season.

At New Road, Worcestershire are 49-2 against bottom side Derbyshire, and after a delayed start at Bristol Gloucestershire are 12-2 against Sussex.

  6. wicket

WICKET Malan (b Willey) 22published at 11:44 British Summer Time 20 September 2016

    Middlesex 57-3 v Yorkshire

Middlesex are three down and wobbling on the first morning at Lord's. Dawid Malan plays a loose drive at David Willey outside off stump and gets an inside edge which clatters into his stumps.

Steve Eskinazi is the new man in.

  7. 'Hampshire openers batting well'published at 11:43 British Summer Time 20 September 2016

    Hampshire 68-0 v Durham

    Kevan James
BBC Radio Solent at the Ageas Bowl

"Despite overcast conditions, Hampshire's openers Jimmy Adams and Will Smith have batted well.

"Durham seamers Chris Rushworth and Graham Onions though may have hoped for a bit more assistance. One or two balls moved off the straight, but generally the pitch is slow."

  8. dropped catch

Dropped catchespublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 20 September 2016

    Middlesex 53-2 v Yorkshire

Adam Lyth shells a difficult chance at slip. David Willey, bang on the money in his second over, finds the outside edge of Dawid Malan's bat, but Lyth can't cling on low down.

And what's this?! At the start of Steven Patterson's next over Nick Gubbins slices him to Azeem Rafiq at point but he can only palm it away.

How costly will those two misses be?

  9. ouch!

Hildreth hobblingpublished at 11:38 British Summer Time 20 September 2016

    Somerset 42-2 v Notts

Somerset batsman James Hildreth has taken a blow on the ankle from Jake Ball. It sounds like a nasty one and he's hobbling around.

He's going to need a runner so Tom Abell comes on. Well, it was either Abell or Marcus Trescothick - and I don't think 'banger' would have been too quick out of his chair!

  10. 'Tension in the air'published at 11:35 British Summer Time 20 September 2016

    Middlesex 49-2 v Yorkshire

    Kalika Mehta
    BBC Sport at Lord's

"It is a cool, overcast, muggy day in London and you can feel the tension in the air.

"There have been long lines outside the coffee taverns dotted around Lord's as everyone tries to warm themselves up.

"The spectators have been gasping and applauding in equal measure during a testing first 15 overs."

  11. Willey goes for 15published at 11:33 British Summer Time 20 September 2016

    Middlesex 49-2 v Yorkshire

Not the best of starts for England and Yorkshire seamer David Willey! Dawid Malan pulls him to the ropes, clips him for four and then finishes the over with a booming cover drive.

    15 come off his first.

  13. Tense at Edgbastonpublished at 11:24 British Summer Time 20 September 2016

    Warwickshire 43-1 v Lancashire

    Clive Eakin
    BBC Coventry & Warwickshire Sport

"Lots of tension at Edgbaston where the losers could well go down.

"Warwickshire are trying to recover from the calamitous start of losing Ian Westwood in the first over, bowled by Tom Bailey, to a ball which seemed to keep unplayably low.

"Reserve wicketkeeper Alex Mellor has kept his place in the Warwickshire team despite the return of Tim Ambrose.

"Mellor showed some promise opening the bat in the last game at Taunton and he's produced some encouraging shots already this morning.

"Lancashire are depleted by the absence of Alviro Petersen and Jos Butler. Bailey has bowled with impressive accuracy so far."

  14. wicket

WICKET Abell (c Libby b Ball) 8published at 11:23 British Summer Time 20 September 2016

    Somerset 33-2 v Notts

Somerset are now two down at Taunton. Tom Abell clips Jake Ball straight into the hands of Jake Libby at mid-wicket.

The morning gets even better for Yorkshire!

  15. Postpublished at 11:20 British Summer Time 20 September 2016

    Middlesex 33-2 v Yorkshire

The one positive for Middlesex this morning has been the form of Nick Gubbins. He's moved to 21 without any trouble at all.

  16. wicket

WICKET Compton (lbw b Brooks) 8published at 11:17 British Summer Time 20 September 2016

    Middlesex 33-2 v Yorkshire

What are you doing leaving that Nick Compton?! Jack Brooks gets another one to nip back in, but Compton shoulders arms and the ball strikes him on the pad. Up goes the finger.

It looked a little high, but was probably just clipping the stumps. HUGE celebrations from Brooks and the rest of the Yorkshire team.

  17. wicket

WICKET Trescothick (c Read b Ball) 25published at 11:11 British Summer Time 20 September 2016

    Somerset 32-1 v Notts

That's a big blow for Somerset. Having looked in decent nick, Marcus Trescothick edges Jake Ball behind and is on his way for 25.

It's paceman Ball's 44th County Championship wicket this summer. Impressive stuff from the big man.

  18. The relegation battlepublished at 11:11 British Summer Time 20 September 2016

    Warwickshire 34-1 v Lancashire

Warwickshire opener Alex Mellor, playing in just his fifth first-class match, is leading the recovery at Edgbaston - he's 26 not out and the Bears are 35-1.

Hampshire meanwhile are still going along nicely - they're 33-0 at the Ageas Bowl.

  19. Postpublished at 11:05 British Summer Time 20 September 2016

    Somerset 30-0 v Notts

A solid start for Somerset is now turning into a very decent one at Taunton. Marcus Trescothick, at 40-years-young, has raced to 24 off 30 balls, with Tom Abell anchoring in at the other end.

Notts have three spinners in their side today - they could come into play very shortly.
