    Speaking of Connell:

I think she has good attributes of a bowler - tall, long arms, strong. But on other pitches I think she would be more of a handful.

Connell continues, she's much more consistent in her line. Elwiss dabs to third man, Beaumont on strike and Connell proves me wrong - a swinging full toss whacked through the covers by Beaumont for four.

How do England need to play?

The girls are going along nicely, not having to do too much. They just have to be patient and wait for it to be in their area and not let this West Indies team in.

  4. Eng 23-1 (target 149)published at 8 overs

Giddings is well off target on both sides of the wicket and gives away another wide. Downleg again and she's lucky that one wasn't called.

Next up it's full and wide outside off and Beaumont drives for two. Very ordinary over from Giddings.

  5. Eng 20-1 (target 149)published at 7 overs

Nice from Georgia Elwiss, flicking to square leg for two. Down to third man for a single as Connell goes wide outside off. She overcompensates and that's a wide down the leg side. Beaumont drops into the off-side and sets off for a single.

This is good from England, nothing too extravagant but picking up ones and twos whenever the opportunity arises. That's all they need to do.

England just need to sit in for a bit, get the pace of the pitch - you can't really force runs on this pitch.

  7. Eng 15-1published at 6 overs

Giddings again, round the wicket once more and very, very wide of the crease. Beaumont drives but straight to mid-on. She's going to struggle to get another lbw from the angle she's bowling here. Beaumont picks up one by swinging into the on-side while Elwiss then gets off the mark. Watchful is the watchword.

Tammy Beaumont is playing nice and straight at the moment, that's what the girls need to do.

  9. Eng 13-1 (target 149)published at 5 overs

Tammy Beaumont facing Shamilia Connell, who is probing away just outside off-stump. Beaumont watchful, offering a straight bat. A leg bye brings Elwiss on to strike, who lets a wide one go. One off the over as Beaumont wisely turns back as she backs up.

  10. Eng 12-1 (target 149)published at 4 overs

Georgia Elwiss the new batter and she sees out the over. We're still a little bit shocked by that decision to give Winfield out. Extraordinarily late.

He gave that very, very late. The appeal was big, it died, the leg bye was being taken, and then he raised his hand! The reaction of Lauren Winfield, she was looking for two.

Winfield lbw Giddings 2 (Eng 12-1)

Erva Giddings is going around the wicket now, she drops short, Lauren Winfield looks to pull, misses and sets off for a leg bye as the West Indies appeal.

Winfield has almost reached the other end by the time the umpire raises his finger. DRS decisions have been faster than that. But, ultimately, Winfield has to go.

Connell again and Beaumont flicks her wrists to pick up two. Then a quick single and Erva Gidding's throw is far too high for wicketkeeper Campbelle. There might have been a run out chance there if that throw had been accurate, Winfield was at full stretch as she ran her bat in.

Beaumont throws her bat at a wide one - she doesn't connect properly but gets enough on it to send the ball to the boundary.

I'm disappointed Merissa Aguilleira isn't playing for two reasons - firstly because her Twitter profile says she has "a smile that capture the hearts of many", and secondly because she keeps wicket in very large white gloves with camouflage patches on.

As we anticipated, Shemaine Campbelle is keeping wicket today.

  16. Eng 4-0 (target 149)published at 2 overs

Erva Giddings at the other end, left-arm over and that's a wide down the leg side to start. Then a nice drive but straight to mid-on. A leg-bye adds another to England's total. Tammy Beaumont gets off the mark with a drive into the covers. No dramas so far.

Anya Shrubsole, who was ruled out of the first two games with a side strain, has been bowling during the interval. She looked in good shape, so could soon be back in contention.

  18. Eng 1-0 (target 149)published at 1 over

Winfield's eyes light up as Connell drops short and wide, it's a good connection but straight to a fielder. A single gets England going.

Here's Shamilia Connell to open the attack for West Indies, bowling to Lauren Winfield...

  20. England chasing 149 to winpublished at 19:20

We're back and it won't be long until England's openers, Tammy Beaumont and Lauren Winfield, are heading into the middle as the tourists set about chasing 149 to go 2-0 up in this five-match one-day series.

Surely rotating the strike and keeping wickets in hand should be the plan here.

Anyway, stick with us and we'll see how it pans out.
