Suddenly there is a renewed spring in the step of the England players, particularly Rashid. Mushfiqur Rahim is the new man, who gets off the mark with a single, pushed into the off side.

    Mahmudullah c sub (Billings) b Rashid 25 (Ban 132-3)

Big moment! Silence descends across the ground as Mahmudullah sweeps Rashid straight down sub-fielder Sam Billings' throat at deep midwicket. It is a very timely breakthrough for the tourists.

It is something of a modern phenomenon, having the trophy permanently in residence on the side of the pitch. This series is no exception as a rather grand looking cup glistens near the boundary. It is a bit like an 80s gameshow, when the state of the art teasmaid would tease the contestants from a plinth as they battle it out.

Meanwhile, on the pitch, Kayes sweeps Moeen for another boundary as the runs continue to flow.

  4. Ban 123-2 (Target 310)published at 21 overs

Rashid can't stem the runs. His first ball is driven hard down the ground for four by Mahmudullah. The spinner doesn't go for any further boundaries but the intent is clearly there from the Bangladesh pair - they fancy a bit of this.

Spin from both ends as Moeen Ali replaces Jake Ball. He is more economical than Rashid, going for four singles. England could really do with a wicket.

England director Andrewe Strauss believes this trip to Bangladesh will be a tough assignment for his players.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 live, he said: "Their record at home has been outstanding for the last couple of years or so. They have a pretty experienced team now. They obviously know their home conditions very well and have had some pretty notable scalps, including India, so they are going to be very hard to beat.

"One of the big shifts we have been trying to make in white-ball cricket is to adopt a method that works in all conditions and that is one based around putting pressure on the opposition and play that kind of high tempo and high intensity cricket and if we do that effectively today then we will have a great chance."

  8. Ban 110-2published at 19 overs

Adil Rashid is into the attack as England turn to spin to try and turn this game back in their favour. It is an expensive start for the leggy who goes for 10 first up, with the last ball steered fine for four by Mahmudullah. Game on.

Andrew Dennett: Has to be pork pies, sausage rolls, ham sandwiches, pate sandwiches, hula hoops or pringles and my mums banana bread!! Heaven!!

Paul Sandars: At lunch : a roast with a pint of bitter. At tea: cakes with a cup of tea. And then a burger stop on the drive home.

    Ban 100-2

Free hit time. Jake Ball lets one slip from his grasp and is no balled as the delivery flies above Kayes' waist. In true free hit madness, Kayes swings and top-edges the ball over Buttler for four. That is his half-century. Next ball he brings up three figures for Bangladesh.

Mahmudullah isn't messing about. He tries to send a straight, full Stokes ball into outer space but despite his fierce swing he misses completely and is lucky not to be cleaned up.

Later in the over, Marais Erasmus takes a ball to the back of the head after the ball ricochets his way following an attempted run out. He should have given Bruce Oxenford a call and asked him to make him one of those shields.

Jason Roy keeps the batsmen on their toes with a direct hit from backward point that sends a stump cartwheeling out of the ground. It needs a full-length dive from Mahmudullah to get home.

Meanwhile, Jake Ball keeps them guessing with good variety, keeping them to just two off the over. Lovely stuff.

Bangladesh v England: Army demonstrate security measures

England director Andrew Strauss is out with the team in Bangladesh and he has been impressed by the level of security afforded the tourists.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 live, Strauss said: "The guys have started to get used to the security presence around them. There is a lot of it and it has been very well organised.

"I have to say the Bangladeshi government has put a lot of resource and time and effort into this and it has very much gone according to plan so far.

"I suppose when you first arrive you notice it a lot. I think the players have got to the stage now where they are starting to take it for granted a little bit more and their attention, quite rightly, has turned towards the cricket."

  15. Ban 87-2published at 15 overs

In comes Mahmudullah to join Kayes. He is off the mark with a checked pull to a Stokes short ball. After four superb dot balls, Stokes tarnishes his work with a lose ball on leg stump that Kayes flicks fine for four.

Outstanding athleticism from David Willey there. The catch was coming at speed and for him to also have the awareness of the boundary rope is high class. An important breakthrough as Bangladesh were starting to pick up some momentum.

    Sabbir c Willey b Ball 18 (Ban 82-2)

Wow! That is absolutely brilliant from David Willey! Sabbir thinks he has a six to add to a four he hit earlier in Ball's over but Willey is there to take the catch on the edge before tossing the ball up while he plants a foot over the rope and darting back on to the field to reclaim the catch. Behind Willey, Alastair Cook clenches his fists in celebration. Good cheerleading from the Test skipper.

The crowd go from expectant delirium to utter silence in a heartbeat.

  20. Ban 71-1published at 13 overs

Not content with scoring a brilliant hundred, Ben Stokes is now trying to bowl Bangladesh out. Greedy.

Somehow, Kayes finds the rope with a little steer to third man. Stokes looks bemused at why Adil Rashid was so fine and not able to cut it out.

I wouldn't like to make Ben Stokes angry. I don't think you'd like him when he's angry.

He certainly won't be pleased to see his last ball on-driven for four by Sabbir.
