    Disastrous call-ups

We've been reminiscing about disastrous games of cricket we've been involved with following a late call-up. Ever been asked to pitch in by a mate and made a fool of yourself? Prepared for a big debut and found yourself dropping a sitter?

We want your horror stories - you can get in touch with us with the #bbccricket hashtag on Twitter, or email us tms@bbc.co.uk

  2. Eng 20-0published at 3 overs

Either it is very warm out there or Mortaza has sweat glands like Ted Stryker from Airplane. He's got a right old bead-on.

Despite all the effort, he can't prevent Roy scoring two boundaries - one a brilliant back-foot push through off, the second a pre-meditated flick high to leg.

  3. Eng 10-0published at 2 overs

First four of the innings comes from a checked push into the off side from Vince. Timed the back-end off it.

Shafiul Islam's response is a good one - just one more run from five deliveries.

  4. Eng 5-0published at 1 over

Already a big crowd in Dhaka, making plenty of noise. There's still scope for more to arrive as well. Mortaza pounds in to a rising roar, which proves to be something of an anti-climax as he slings one way wide outside off stump.

Two more huge cheers greet the fielding of a ball that Roy clubbed through extra cover for three and a swing and a miss from the same batsman. There'll be some sore throats in the morning.

    Bangladesh v England

To the casual cricket fan, Bangladesh away may not seem like a particularly tough test. 'Bangladesh? Pah, piece of cake!' However, the Tigers have been punching in a big way at home in 50-overs cricket.

Heading into the series with England they have won six series on the bounce - a run dating back two years. They have lost only three matches out of 20 at home since November 2014.

Saying that, England have a bit of form themselves.

It is a very different dynamic to when Bangladesh put England out of their misery at the last World Cup.

  9. Series over for Plunkett?published at 09:22 British Summer Time 7 October 2016

On Jake Ball making his debut... an injury to Liam Plunkett looks to have opened up the opportunity for the Notts bowler. Plunkett, who left the field during the warm-up game the other day, has a toe injury. He had an injection but was not fit to play. Considering how quickly they rattle through these ODIs, that could be series over.

Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza: "We'd like to have batted, it looks a good track but it'll be OK. We have picked a team with some good bowling options. The boys have been working hard and the senior players are combining well with the younger lads now."

England captain Jos Buttler: "It looks a good surface. Batting first has worked good for us. We will look to post a good score. If the dew comes it comes.

"We have a couple of debutants - Ben Duckett and Jake Ball come in."

"There is a great competition in England in white ball cricket. We are always trying to get 13 into 11. The guys being missing gives others a big opportunity."

England are without their one-day captain and all-time record score-maker in Bangladesh, as Eoin Morgan and Alex Hales opted to stay at home because of concerns over security.

Their absence, though, offers the opportunity for others to shine and finally satisfies those that have been calling for Morgan's head despite his role in one of the finest periods of international limited-overs cricket in England's history.

So step forward new skipper Jos Buttler, stick your hand up Ben Duckett and seize the day Jake Ball, your time has come.
