England have tried everyone else apart from Moeen Ali. He also has that knack of getting wickets, even when he doesn't bowl that well. It won't be long before Alastair Cook starts to think about him.

  2. Ind 99-2published at 31 overs

Jimmy on the money, bowling at a fifth-sixth stump line outside off and getting Pujara to push forward. No alarms but no runs either as Anderson gets through a second maiden.

  3. Ind 99-2published at 30 overs

    Pujara 38, Kohli 41

Rashid found a nice rhythm before lunch - although turn was lacking - and the leggie is given the ball again just after the resumption. A little short in this over but just a single each for Kohli and Pujara, who keeps the strike.

India have got a very good opportunity of posting something that England will find tough to chase down. Someone should be getting to three figures on the pitch. Any chance that comes England's way - whether it's in the air or a run-out - they're going to have to take it.

  5. Ind 97-2published at 29 overs

Anderson offers up one full and on the pads for Kohli, who flicks his wrists and gets going with a boundary off the first ball. Moeen Ali is at a very short mid-on to Pujara with just two other men on the leg side but he's able to let it go outside off. Five off the over.

It'll be James Anderson to resume to Virat Kohli...

Here are the England bowling figures from the morning session... steady stuff on the whole but there was not much to get excited about after the first five overs:

    Anderson: 5-1-19-1

    Broad: 6-1-21-1

    Stokes: 4-2-16-0

    Ansari: 6-1-19-0

    Rashid: 7-1-17-0

Thanks very much, Amy. It was a superb start from England but Pujara and Kohli settled themselves in from 22-2. Does a long afternoon of toil await for the tourists?

Right, that's it from me for the time being. I'm off to get the brews in.

I'll leave you in the very capable hands of Alan Jewell.

The first Test went down to the wire when it finished on Sunday in Rajkot. Since then, the players have had three days to recover from the Test, then hop on a six-hour flight for nets, practices and press conferences. It's not an easy turnaround.

  12. What have you missed?published at 06:30 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2016

    Ind 92-2

If you're just joining us, you've missed two early wickets from Stuart Broad and Jimmy Anderson, with KL Rahul edging to third slip for a duck on his return and Jimmy bouncing out Murali Vijay.

Since then it's been all India, despite Cheteshwar Pujara's best attempts to run himself out. Running aside, he's played calmly and Virat Kohli has been the perfect foil. They've taken England's spinners, who have struggled with their lines, for plenty of singles. The partnership is worth 70 at lunch.

England women's hopes of completing a 4-0 series whitewash over Sri Lanka aren't looking great.

They are tottering on 80-6 after winning the toss in the fourth one-day international in Colombo. Opener Amy Jones made 28 and Nat Sciver is unbeaten on 22.

England secured their place at the 2017 World Cup by winning the second ODI.

It's a good pitch, nothing is happening and it's a pretty easy pitch to play the spinners on. I would have had the seamers on more. Giving them the ball after tea when it's ragged and the dog's had it is not quite the same. Broad and Anderson have done 11 overs between them this morning. That's just a warm-up. I want the spinners to do the work later on.

It started great for England with Broad and Anderson bowling beautifully. Since the wickets they haven't really looked like getting anyone out. India have looked like running themselves out because Pujara has two bad knees and runs like a cart horse.

  20. Lunch - Ind 92-2published at 28 overs

Rashid will bowl the last over before lunch. Pujara, his shirt a fetching shade of grey thanks to all that diving to make his ground, shovels down the pitch but he can't beat the fielder. Kohli has a leisurely stretch to ensure this will be the last over but he can't stop himself thrashing a loopy full toss towards the boundary. Anderson cuts it off, and that's lunch.
