  1. Ind 65-2published at 17 overs

Pujara tippy-toes down the pitch and punches Ansari through mid-wicket, but Cook tumbles to his right to keep it to one. It's not all out aggression from India against the spin. They're happy to nab the singles and try and throw Ansari off his line. These two have run well so far, both of them alert to the gaps in the field.

Anderson making the team means he and Alastair Cook have played 107 Tests together, which is an England record, passing Cook and Ian Bell's 106. Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid's 146 for India is the world record.

  3. Ind 63-2published at 16 overs

Rashid replaces Stokes to give us spin from both ends. His first ball turns a little out of the rough but it's low, very low, as Bairstow takes a good catch down by his toes. Pujara watches a few go past before shovelling a ball off his pads for a single. Kohli blocks the rest of the over out.

A very poor ball from Ansari and very few revs on it from a spinner's perspective.

  5. Ind 62-2published at 15 overs

Ansari floats a few up, and Pujara is content to defend. Ooh, that's not gone well - a floaty full toss that Pujara gets forward to and thumps through mid-wicket for four. Ansari takes a swipe at the ground and spears a flatter delivery in as Pujara returns to blocking.

Andrew might be able to confirm this but the average age of this crowd is the lowest in Test wicket history.

Andrew Samson replies, with tongue very much in cheek:

"The average age is 12.73, which would be a record."

  7. Ind 55-2published at 14 overs

Stokes is in a lively mood, sending down another bouncer, but the angle is off and it's easily ducked. That's a shot, though, as Pujara drives through the gap at cover and picks up a boundary. They trade a single before Kohli pulls it fierce and fast through mid-wicket for four. Perfect balance there from the India captain.

Not a bad hour for England. There have been a lot of boundaries but two wickets. Batsmen are able to drive with impunity here.

  9. drinks break

    Drinks breakpublished at 13 overs

    Ind 45-2

Ansari continues to give it a twirl, as Broad returns to the field with strapping on both arms. It's a quiet over, Pujara not willing to take on Anderson in the covers when he prods the ball towards there, and it's a maiden. And that, folks, is drinks.

It's a remarkable stat - England's last six wins in India have come when they've lost the toss. In fact, 12 of their 13 wins here have come after losing it.

It's all happening. That's a beautiful shot again from Kohli, opening the blade. It's not a full delivery but on this surface you can play through it.

Broad is still getting his wrist patched up, so Stokes will carry on. Kohli pushes, a neat little flick of the wrists, and picks up a couple, before he repeats the shot for a boundary. Stokes nods his head, a touch of menacing appreciation on his face. He responds with a slower ball that bounces twice before it gets to Bairstow's knees. A bouncer rounds off the over.

John Pierce: In the text book for tests in India, 2 wickets from seam in the first half hour would be right up there.

This will be interesting to see how India go about their business against the spinner. I'm pretty sure their mindset will be to attack the England spinners more so than last week.

  15. Ind 39-2published at 11 overs

Anderson off, Ansari on. This pitch is already starting to crumble under the bowler's footmarks, which will make for an interesting last few days. Kohli skips off the mark to the first ball, before Pujara follows suit. It's a bit too full from Ansari. He drags one back that bounces past Kohli, but there's no turn just yet.

  17. Ind 36-2published at 10 overs

Stokes continues, still trying to tempt Pujara to have a bite outside off. Pujara's not playing, defending calmly, which brings cheers from the crowd. He gets on his toes to a short ball, looking completely unruffled, before Stokes follows up with a rubbish short ball that zips down leg. Bairstow takes it, and that's another maiden.

Decent length from Anderson, and Kohli's response is a glorious cover drive for four. Anderson has a glare at Moeen, who went diving to his left and ended up diving over the ball. Oh that's not controlled from Kohli, who has a proper hoick at a short ball. It goes up into the air, misses everyone and bounces down to the fine-leg boundary. Jimmy is distinctly disgruntled by that.
