Gautam Gambhir is one England will be disappointed not to see - they get him out quite cheaply. But good to see the young lad, KL Rahul. He plays his shots.

For the first time since August, Jimmy opens up the bowling for England. His second ball is angled down leg and Vijay gives it a helping tickle down to the boundary. Anderson's radar is a little off. There's a mix of nice, off-stump deliveries and some not so nice leg-side stuff that Vijay works away for a couple.

England have won most of their recent Test matches in India when they've bowled first. I'm looking for crumbs of comfort. They have got to bowl India out today for a manageable total. You feel if they get over 300 that that's not a manageable total.

Both sets of players are out for the national anthems. There are 10,000 school children inside the stadium today and they're making their presence known.

Having strolled on to the surface, it certainly looks like a good toss for India to win. It's very dry and will certainly spin, probably today and certainly by day four. It looks like it will crumble. I was amazed by the pitch in Rajkot.

England have got confidence and are playing nicely but this is a bigger challenge. There will be a result - I don't see it going five days and being a draw.

  11. Vizag makes Test debutpublished at 03:52 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2016

Another week, another Test debut for an Indian ground. After Rajkot made its Test bow by hosting the opening match of the series, so Visakhapatnam - also known as Vizag - stages its first Test this week.

The wonderfully named Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium - in the state of Andhra Pradesh on India's east coast - has staged six one-day internationals and one Twenty20.

It will not have escaped England's attention that in the most recent ODI at the ground in October, India bowled New Zealand out for 79, external as leg-spinner Amit Mishra claimed 5-18.

England captain Alastair Cook on James Anderson's return in place of Chris Woakes: "It's part of the rotation policy - Chris Woakes has bowled a lot of overs and Jimmy is as ready as he can be without any match practice. It's great to have him back."

  18. 'It looks like a crucial toss to win'published at 03:40 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2016

England captain Alastair Cook on losing the toss: "It looks like a crucial toss to win. We have now nothing to lose. There's a lot of pressure on India on this kind of wicket in their home conditions on a turning track. If we can get a result here it would be a great start for us.

"This looks like it will turn. It's going to be a result wicket. There's a little but of tackiness there this morning and we need to restrict India to a manageable total."

India captain Virat Kohli: "It looks like a pretty decent pitch to bat on first up, and then there will be a little bit of turn later in the day or on the second day. Rajkot was pretty good to bat on but this will be much more challenging."

  20. Changes for both sidespublished at 03:37 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2016

So, James Anderson returns for England, which is tough on Chris Woakes. Woakes had a minor knee niggle yesterday and, with a lot of cricket coming up, it's the most sensible decision to rest him.

For India, KH Rahul slots back in at the top of the order in place of Gambhir, while all-rounder Jayant Yadav makes his Test debut.
