  • India won toss; five-Test series 0-0

  1. Ind 219-2published at 59 overs

Broad, hair rather brutally shaved at the sides - think US Marine - tests Kohli out with some short stuff. The India skipper is well on top of that pull, the ball fizzes down to fine leg for four and the crowd inch even further towards the edge of their seats. He's two away from his ton.

  3. Ind 215-2published at 58 overs

Oooh! In the air... but safe. Rashid tossing it up, Kohli driving through a vacant cover. The bowler has his hands on his head. More importantly, Kohli has 94 and Pujara 99.

Matthew Webb: Not sure why the question is even asked. Joe Root plays in more difficult conditions, has more runs and a much higher average

Anoop Ramathirtha: Root is a talented player, has had a good couple of years. In footballing terms, he's Jamie Vardy. Kohli is Cristiano Ronaldo.

Sid Dodia: The only thing that prevents Kohli from being World class is that horrible England tour. He has to prove there. In ODI's no doubt.

  5. ouch!

    Ind 212-2published at 57.1 overs

Man down! Zafar Ansari has taken one in the nether regions. Adil Rashid drops short, Kohli miscues a pull and it bounces up awkwardly as Ansari fails to gather at mid-wicket. Giggles all round.

Rajkot and the way England played is just a memory now. This has more of a feeling of what we saw from the spinners in Bangladesh.

  7. Ind 212-2published at 57 overs

    Pujara 98, Kohli 92

Well, that was rather uneventful. Broad bowls the four balls to complete that dog-interrupted over, with Pujara and Kohli collecting a single apiece.

Thanks Alan. What a way to sign off. Surely I don't even need to ask you nice people to send your own 'when animals stopped play' tales to us. In fact, I can hear the inbox pinging already...

Right, what will the final session bring? Runs piled upon runs for India? A breakthrough for England? More dogs on the pitch? You can find out with Justin Goulding.

The pitch looks as though it will stay good for three days. England have to make sure, when they bat, that they get close to India's total. They have to do what India did to them in Rajkot.

Slept through your 4am alarm call? Fear not - we'll fill you in...

Firstly, and most importantly, you have missed a dog charging all over the outfield. He/she was so elusive the groundstaff, players and umpires gave up and went to tea four deliveries early with Cheteshwar Pujara left on 97. Absolute scenes.

India are well and truly on top in Visakhapatnam, recovering from 22-2 to reach 210 without further loss by tea on the opening day of the second Test against England.

Centuries beckon for Pujara (above) and Virat Kohli, who has 91 to his name, having been dropped on 56 by a diving Adil Rashid at fine leg.

Early wickets for Stuart Broad and the fit-again James Anderson seem a long time ago...

  16. Cook won't quit as captain - Strausspublished at 08:53

England director of cricket Andrew Strauss says he does not expect Alastair Cook to stand down as Test captain after this winter's tour of India.

Cook, 31, hinted before the current series in India that it could be his last in charge, saying: "Deep down I don't know how much longer I am going to carry on. It could be two months, it could be a year."

But former team-mate Strauss said: "He's given me no indication that is his line of thinking at the moment.

"Every indication he has given me is he is driven, he's passionate, he's motivated, he's loving this environment, and he's excited about some of the young players coming through."

Neil Burton: There's a dog on the pitch -and that's tea! There's some room for confusion there. Collie sandwiches anyone?

The first session was shared and the second was India's. It was a good toss to win and they have capitalised. Kohli brought determination, energy and focus. He looked at the pitch and thought 'I'm having a piece of this'. England did OK in the first session, but in the second the ball has travelled. The spinners are bowling one bad ball per over and batsmen of this quality will not miss out.

    Pujara 97, Kohli 91

Easily, easily the best moment of this Test series so far. I wonder what Pujara makes of it all? That mutt has left him stuck on 97 going into tea, when he should have had up to four balls to get his century.

I remember a dog invading the track during practice at the Formula 1 Indian Grand Prix a few years ago. At least this animal wasn't in anywhere as much danger. What a joyous sight that was.
