I've not seen this for a long time. It was at Guyana. He disgraced himself and the groundsman had to get his shovel. The dog was like a fly-half there. A quick dummy then off. Oh no! Now he is disgracing himself. This has to be the first time a dog has stopped play.

  2. There's a dog on the pitch - and that's tea!published at 56.2 overs

    Ind 210-2

We've got a pitch invader - a dog on the pitch! England have less idea to do with it than the Indian batsman. Stuart Broad thinks about chucking the ball towards him but thinks better of it. The dog toddles off the pitch, encouraged by ground staff, but now he's back! A member of the ground staff is threatening him with his shoe. It's some kind of cross breed (I'm no expert) but it's haring all over the pitch. And they've given up and decided to go for tea with four balls still remaining in the over!

    Brilliant - dog stops play!

Quicker from Rashid. It rushes on but Pujara is right behind it. Just the two from that over and we've got time for one more with Pujara facing Broad, on 97.

    Pujara 96, Kohli 90

Surely we're all latte drinkers now, Jonathan? Both batsman are in the nineties now but no signs of nerves - Broad drops short and Pujara somehow gets it through an eight-man off-side field for another four. The bowler closes his eyes and sighs. England are looking forlorn. Four minutes from tea.

I saw Stuart Broad at dinner in Bangladesh. He was wearing extra-padded flip flops. I asked him what was wrong and he said he'd been told to look after his feet and he wandered off with a latte. I said "If Fred Trueman could see you now, he'd have a fit. A flip-flop wearing, latte-drinking fast bowler."

Adil Rashid is brought back. He's good initially but then offers up a juicy, loopy one outside off - Pujara pounces and drives for his 10th four (he also has a six). The 200 is up.

The first 50 came off 81 balls. Since then the sequence has been 107, 84 and 50.

Kohli or Root - who is the better batsman?published at 08:27 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2016

I'm surprised that you guys are actually comparing Root to Kohli. One winner, the one batting now.

In these conditions, when they are under pressure, can the spinners hold a length? They did it in Rajkot, but there was a massive score on the board and they weren't under pressure. At the minute, we're back to Chittagong and Dhaka. India have learned they can put England's spinners under more pressure.

  10. Ind 199-2published at 53 overs

    Pujara 88, Kohli 89

Who can apply some control? Time for Stuart Broad - if anyone can rein in these two, he's the man. Pujara isn't going to let him settle though, not bothering with footwork but smacking it down the ground. Broad looks weary and ruddy-cheeked, rubbing his head with his hand with a pained expression.

Ansari has looked the weakest of the three spinners. It's no surprise as he's the most inexperienced but India are picking him off.

These are two good players, it's a good pitch and there's not a massive amount of action on the ball. This is always the challenge for England bowlers, spinners in particular - can they hold length? So far they haven't been able to do that. Ansari has bowled some right out of the pie drawer.

Class from Kohli, advancing to Moeen and driving on the up through the covers for his 10th boundary. And another one - glancing ever so delicately down to third man. Timed beautifully - you would never have believed that could go all the way. Pujara gets on the act, coming down the track and working it through the leg side for the third four of the over. Another six balls that have conceded 13.

That's 61 runs from the last 10 overs, Kohli has moved to 88, Pujara to 83. A partnership of 171. Ominous for England.

  14. Ind 180-2published at 51 overs

Ansari's on the short side again and these two easily add six more. They appear to be putting the pedal to the metal.

  15. How's stat?!published at 08:15 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2016

The 150 partnership came up from 267 balls, with the last 50 from 63 balls.

  16. Ind 174-2published at 50 overs

Another four but this one is streaky - it keeps low off Moeen and squirms down to fine leg off the toe-end of Kohli's bat. That brings up the 150 partnership for Kohli and Pujara.

That was a horrible long hop and Pujara was quick onto it. England are just under the pump at the moment.

    Ind 170-2published at 49 overs

Zafar Ansari is back, as Ben Stokes is given a rest after a six-over spell that cost him 23 and induced the top edge from Kohli that Rashid shelled.

That's the first six of the match as the left-arm spinner drops short - it slowly sits up and is smashed into the stands by Pujara. Ansari immediately overcompensates and offers up a full toss that Pujara drives back down the ground for four - 13 off the over. His first six only went for 19.

Skullhax: I know you asked about Kohli and Root but can I suggest De Villiers?

Steve Mills: Stats don't lie. Root is superior. But this is like the Messi vs Ronaldo argument. Let's just enjoy two of the greatest ever!

Elgan Evan Alderman: No question in Tests - Joe Root is better.

  20. Ind 157-2published at 48 overs

    Pujara 67, Kohli 68

A full-throated yell of an appeal from Jonny Bairstow for a catch as Moeen beats Kohli but the bowler isn't interested. Rightly so, that flicked pad rather than bat.

India's run rate of 3.27 isn't spectacular by modern standards but they won't care as the runs steadily accumulate.
