He started to do the side-step to get warmed up and he's just tripped up.
Bairstow's going to bat. He's hobbling - no runners allowed, either - but he's going to join Stokes at the crease. If this start is an omen for the rest of the day...

The not-out batsman has injured himself - walking out to bat.
Ah. Jonny Bairstow has come out to bat with Ben Stokes, and has injured himself walking out to bat! I think he's tripped over his ankle. The physio and the doctor have come racing out.

Clayton Hodges: Eyes are starting to fail, but how can one sleep when England have such a huge session coming up... And I'm at work
A good effort that, Clayton. My housemate was returning from a night out as I left to come to Salford this morning.

From one end, there's not a great deal of rough outside off stump, but there are a few cracks. However, at the opposite end, there's plenty on both sides of the wicket. I've got a bit of bad news for the left-hander - there's plenty of rough outside the off stump at both ends.

Geoffrey Boycott was off his long run yesterday, describing England's batsmen as "idiots."
"It's pressure, pressure, pressure. It's a little bit about technique but it's a mental game," he said on TMS.
"It's not a raging turner, let's be honest. There's been some sloppy, poor batting."
There's more from Geoffrey - and believe me, it's well worth a read - here.
It wasn't the most pleasant experience, watching England bat yesterday.
After bowling India out for 455, they ended the day on 103-5 after losing four wickets for 29 runs.
The ball is keeping low and Ravichandran Ashwin and Jayant Yadav are getting some turn, but England handled the game poorly with a run out, a horrible hoick and poor techniques on show.
Ey up, and welcome to today's live text for the third day of the second India v England Test.
Grab a blanket, a coffee and get ready for England batting against spin on a pitch that's gonna turn. It'll be an interesting one.
