  1. Ind 61-3published at 22 overs

    Lead by 261

Rashid whizzes through another over. It's a nice contrast between these two; Kohli, all hyper aggression at the crease and Rahane just working his way into the game, putting away the bad balls but taking it steady.

Harrison Webb: Kohli & Root on another level to everyone else. Bring both energy and a sense of calm when they arrive at the crease!

  3. Ind 56-3published at 21 overs

    Rahane 8, Kohli 29

It's keeping low pretty consistently now, which is good news or bad news for England depending which side of the pessimism scale you fall on. Anderson whistles down a nice short ball that clatters into Rahane's fingers, just giving him something else to think about. The response? A gorgeous drive through point for four.

England have shown some character and mental strength - that's all they can do. They're trying like hell to pull it back. They're trying to be aggressive and put pressure on the Indian batsmen.

  5. Ind 52-3published at 20 overs

    Lead by 252

Ooh, Ajinkya, don't do that! Kohli smears the returning Rashid away for a single, turns for a second and then changes his mind. Rahane has to do a swift about turn to avoid being run out. Kohli raises an arm in apology.

BenFides: Love seeing Anderson bowl like this. Good pace and incredible skill. Welcome back Jimmy!

Sam Rosser: Anderson and Broad, good in English conditions or simply two brilliant cricketers?!

Drinks break - Ind 50-3published at 19 overs

    Lead by 250

What we all really want to see is Kohli v Anderson. Anderson's dismissed him five times in the past but Kohli's had the better of this match with that classy century in the first innings. Although Kohli ruins the fun by taking a single off the first ball, thanks to a massive gap at mid off, which Cook and Anderson instantly plug when Rahane gets on strike. Time for a drink.

That ball to get Pujara came back a long way to take out his middle stump. Clever bowling from Anderson. Not quite as clever from Ben Stokes, who takes a kick at the turf as Virat Kohli drives him for yet another boundary. Timing, wrists, balance. That had everything.

  11. Ind 40-3published at 17 overs

    Lead by 240

New man Ajinkya Rahane takes an age to sort his gloves out, and Anderson shows his displeasure with another ball that moves late and catches him on the move.

Late swing back into Pujara. Already within 17 overs we're seeing reverse swing. This is wonderful display from Broad and Anderson - it really is high class.

    Pujara b Anderson 1 (Ind 40-3)

Bowled him! Anderson's not done a Shami but Pujara's middle stump is leaning backwards, wobbling precariously. That swung late into the batsman to beat Pujara's shuffle forwards and cannon into the stumps. The seamers are doing the job for England.

Kohli is playing a different game to the others.

  15. Ind 39-2published at 16 overs

    Kohli 20, Pujara 1

Shot! Kohli has Anderson playing fetch as he drives gloriously past Stokes to the boundary. Anderson, belly first on the ground, looks more disgruntled than usual. That might be an even better strike, hammering a low ball down to third man with both feet off the ground. Cook puts his hands on his hips, a grumpy teapot hovering at slip.

  16. Ind 30-2published at 15 overs

    Lead by 230

James Anderson will replace Broad, who limps in to offer a few words of advice. He sends down a series of deliveries that hug Pujara's off stump, but he can't be tempted into having a nibble. Anderson's hiding the ball with his fingers, trying to get it to reverse. That'll be a maiden.

Kohli arrived at the wicket just like he did in the first innings - he just brings energy.

  18. Ind 30-2published at 14 overs

Ben Stokes, fresh from his fielding exploits, is going to turn his arm over. Kohli takes a leisurely single to get off strike, before Pujara finally gets off the mark with a push down to third man. They could probably get two but Kohli, maybe remembering the cavaliar approach Pujara took to running on the first day, keeps it at just one.

Broad is bowling beautifully. He's clearly in a bit of discomfort but he's running in hard and hitting the pitch hard.
