Rahul 104, Kohli 12
Still the sunglasses-wearing, suncream-smeared Dawson. He's round the wicket to Rahul, but over to fellow right-hander Kolhi. If the intent is to frustrate Virat, it's doomed to fail. Some good running gets him a couple on the off side, with another single taken to leg. Jos Buttler's throw whacks Jonny Bairstow on the ankle in a blatant attempt to get the gloves back.

Broad is a very good line bowler and when the ball moves a bit when he has some magic spells. He's not going to get that here but he might frustrate the batsmen so they have to work in tandem and tie them down.

A slip and a man on the drive for Broad, whose pearly whites are reflecting the burning sun. KL Rahul, who defends with the highest of elbows, repeatedly pushes the ball up to the shin-padded Keaton Jennings. England have kept a lid on scoring - the last three overs have been maidens.

When you bowl outside leg stump it's hard to work it on the on side because you're working against the spin. When you have to start like Kohli it can be annoying. It's not so much that it will get you out, but it can be hard to score.
I'm going to look really silly when Dawson gets Kohli out, aren't I? Broad is coming on at the other end, replacing Stokes. That's another strange call.

Still Dawson, so Kohli checks that Christmas is indeed next Sunday, rather than today. I sometimes think Alastair Cook gets some needless stick for his captaincy, but this one is a head-scratcher. How about bowling that Broad fella, the one who has 300+ Test wickets? Dawson over the wicket, Kohli defends with his eyes shut.

Stokes is skiddy, slippy. He can bowl quite sharply and he does it without changing his action.
Still Stokes, all fire and brimstone, banging away at the pitch trying to get response like a man knocking on the door of an empty house. Waves of noise come from the crowd, what sounds like a Mexican wave. A pacey maiden.

There's a decision here for Cook. Kohli's just come in and I am not sure Dawson's necessarily the man. If he is the man, I'd prefer a few overs from round the wicket.

Looking at the replay of the moment Rahul reached a ton, Virat Kohli was actually celebrating before the man himself. Good to see the skipper enjoying his team-mate's success. Still Dawson, left-arm spin over the wicket. Without banging on, is he really the best option to be bowling to a new Kohli? You've got to get him early.

Rahul's century in 200 minutes from 171 balls. It's his first against England. He's converted four of the five scores he has made over 50 in Tests into hundreds.

He's played beautifully and with great freedom, a modern opener.
Ind 191-2
What a way to get a century. KL Rahul wants a short single on the leg side, one he thinks will take him 99. The throw comes in to the non-striker's end, misses and is not backed up, sending Rahul through to three figures on an overthrow. That's four tons in 12 matches, but only with an average of 33. Big or nothing. A high five from the skipper, a punch of the air, a kiss of the badge and a raise of the bat to acknowledge some huge noise. That's his first century in India.

Rahul 98, Kohli 0
Almost a leading edge, then a forced reverse sweep, and a push back down the track to end the over. Rahul must wait.

There is quite a big crowd, like the old days when Tendulkar came out to bat. The top cricketers here have so much pressure on them, they are treated like minor deities.
In the fuss of the wicket, it's easy to forget that KL Rahul is hunting a fourth Test ton in 12 matches. Still Liam Dawson. Surely England would want someone else bowling first up to Kohli? He must be delighted. At the moment, the skipper is just doing the running as Rahul moves to 98...
