Len: 'Howzat!', a cricketing tribute act to Take That. I reckon Stuart Broad is a dead cert for the Barlow role!

Ruth Brooksbank: I bet Nathan Lyon is humming "You spin me right round" to himself after his recent career best performance.

  2. WI 76-3published at 20 overs

Double spin now, as Moeen Ali takes up the mantle at the other end. A slightly better line this from Moeen, the ball just drifting in to the batsmen, and the West Indies have to contend themselves with the singles, before mixing it up with a quick two from the final delivery. Meanwhile, the groundsmen are lurking by the covers, attired in fetching yellow raincoats...

I'm not sure I agree with the line of attack from Rashid, it seems to be very leg-side-ish. With a slip in place I would rather see Rashid trying to get a wicket, rather than bowl so defensively like he is doing at the moment.

  4. WI 69-3published at 19 overs

A change of bowling, and our first look at spin. Adil Rashid is going to twirl his arm over for a while. It takes him three balls to bring out the googly, which Kraigg Brathwaite completely fails to read. The umpire signals a wide, though, and then Rashid gets away with a loopy ol' full toss that gets chipped rather tamely for a single.

  5. WI 63-3published at 18 overs

    Brathwaite 19, Mohammed 10

Drinks are done, and Ben Stokes will continue. Kraigg Brathwaite controls an edge down into the deep to nab a single and keep the runs ticking over. Steady progress for the Windies, as they work another few runs here and there off Stokes.

Mike Bell:  Just found the Musical Xl team sheet pinned up on the notice board. Good side, but might be short of an (oboe)ler or two.

    WI 57-3

Two wickets for Steven Finn, one for Ben Stokes, supreme consistency from Chris Woakes and Liam Plunkett; that's the story of the morning.

It's time for drinks, and also time for this superb piece of musical cricket punnery...

  9. WI 57-3published at 17 overs

There's one particularly vocal West Indies fan who is making his presence known from the stands. It doesn't perturb Liam Plunkett, who sticks to his consistent line and length, sapping any thought of a boundary from the minds of the batsmen. A maiden over.

West Indies are in a spot of bother at the moment. Soft dismissals in my opinion. Good work from the England bowlers, they have created pressure and made them think.

The batsmen need some patience and application. I don't quite understand their plan.

    Stokes 3-0-10-1

Ben Stokes will continue, stomping his way to his mark. The West Indies are content to work the singles for the time being, Stokes rarely straying from the pads. The coaching staff of the home side are lurking on the sidelines, notepads in hands.

  12. WI 52-3published at 15 overs

    Brathwaite 13, Mohammed 5

That's nice from Jason Mohammed; a late cut, controlled all the way, and he can edge down to third man for his first boundary. He then flashes at a wide one but Eoin Morgan is super quick to move to his right and cut the ball off, earning a round of applause from the England fans in the crowd.

The England bowlers are just doing things with discipline. They are putting the ball there at the moment but the Windies aren't doing much with it.

  14. WI 47-3published at 14 overs

Here's Jason Mohammed, who made a tremendously entertaining 72 in the first ODI before cramp set in. He'll be on strike for the next over.

Not the best bit of cricket all round to be honest, it was short and wide but that is poor decision making and poor shot selection.

  16. Postpublished at 14:28 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2017

No-one came out of that particularly well; a poor ball, a poor shot and a pretty ordinary dismissal.

    Hope c Buttler b Stokes 16 (WI 46-3)

Ah. Yeah. That's not great from Shai Hope, I'm afraid. It's short and wide and a bit rubbish from Ben Stokes, Hope doesn't move his feet and just flashes his bat at it. The edge flies through to Jos Buttler, and that's the end of that.

The modern day cricketer has so many options but here for example West Indies should look for the simple run down to third man if the ball is wider. Good batters work around the fielders. They need to stay one step ahead.

  19. WI 45-2published at 13 overs

    Plunkett 2-0-6-0

Big fan of a niche Worcestershire reference, Peter. Liam Plunkett will continue, bowling a consistent 82mph. Bit of a quandry for the West Indies at the minute, caught between seeing off the pace bowlers and reigning in the desire to play a big shot. Absolutely no need for them to do anything rash at the minute.
