We've lost 82 overs in the match already to rain. We can make up 16 today - although we did lose another eight on Friday [when the sides failed to bowl their overs in the allotted time].

There were mixed fortunes for England's Essex pair - Alastair Cook was bowled by Morne Morkel for seven, while Tom Westley has made his way to 28 from 38 balls.

Andy White: England need to score at least four an over and put South Africa back in around tea time. A bit of cloud wouldn't go amiss either.

Meanwhile, the under-pressure Keaton Jennings rode his luck early on with a couple of inside-edged fours, while he was reprieved by DRS - but he's still there on 34 from 61 balls.

I think the art of batting a match out for a draw is being lost. Securing a draw is a skill. It's such a massive achievement to secure, what I would term, a winning draw. It can give you momentum like it did for us against South Africa at Old Trafford in 1998.

Can confirm it's warm, some people are waiting for Battersea Dogs Home to open and that there's a sign pointing me towards where "Kayleigh and Christian" are getting married.

(If you weren't aware, England's players took the Tube to the ground yesterday because of a cycling event which has closed roads, and they were set to do so again today).

It's a fine day, very different to yesterday. There will be sunny spells, a bit of cloud around, and there are some showers moving in from the south-west but more than likely, they will miss The Oval. A chance of a passing shower, but not until about 16:00, and a similar sort of day tomorrow. Predominantly, for the next two days, it's looking pretty decent.

Brearley on Joe Root's England captaincy: "I think if you've got a low opinion of yourself, the bad publicity adds pressure to the captaincy.

"If you're feeling good about yourself, you can get on with the job without it affecting you. He seems a young man with his feet on the ground though.

"He seems positive and always does his best for the team. He's a brilliant player and i think he's started well."
