Hawk-Eye had a bit missing there, it had whether it was hitting the stumps missing. You sometimes are out playing a couple of iffy strokes, Du Plessis has been out twice not playing ANY strokes!

Yep, the SA skipper is sent on his way for a golden duck. It hit him outside the line (not an issue as he was offering no shot), and was umpire's call for hitting the stumps. And Stokes will be on a hat-trick at the start of the next over. What a sensational few minutes for England.

Twice in a match surely not?!

Unbelievable! Having been out lbw offering no shot in the first innings, Faf du Plessis does the exact same thing to his first ball from Stokes!

He's given out - but calls for a review.

It's all in the planning. Or the bluffing. Just before the De Kock wicket, Stokes sent square leg back to the boundary, taking time to make sure the batsman knew exactly what he was doing. If De Kock was expecting the short ball, it was fatal. Yorker-length, stumps everywhere.

You talk about whether Amla is on the decline well he didn't bring a backlift out with him at all. The mindset is to bat a long period but with so much time left you've still got to look to score.

What a 20 minutes this has been for England. De Kock played across the line and it was quite full from Ben Stokes. De Kock is a wonderful player but four is a bit too high for the style of player he is.

Another one goes! De Kock is caught playing down the wrong line and is bowled.

    Target 492

If you're going to flash, flash hard, goes the saying - De Kock swats Stokes for four over the slips.

Six and five for Amla in this Test, just the 300 runs than the last Test he played at The Oval in 2012. In the last 12 months he is averaging 33 in Tests, he was over 50 before that.

Quinton de Kock is the new batsman, so South Africa have two left-handers at the crease. He guides the last ball of TRJ's over through the covers for one.

All Amla has been doing is standing back on his stumps like a policeman on duty, he's better than that. You have to get yourself into some rhythm.

    Amla c Root b Roland-Jones 5 (SA 47-2)

Gone! TRJ has got Amla again! He gets a nick as he was trying to withdraw the bat.

Or has he? Root takes the catch at second slip but they're going to check with the third ump. The soft signal is "out"... and after a tense delay while the TV umpire agrees that Root's fingers were under the ball, Amla is sent on his way.

Tom: Amla was out of form when captain during the England series last year, much before IPL. Maybe he's just getting on a bit...

At what point will people start panicking and think England haven't got enough runs?

You've got to hit the deck bowling here, you can't just float it there, you've got to hit the deck on a length.

Roland-Jones slants the ball across left-hander Elgar, firing a few broadsides across his bows as it were, but Elgar returns fire by tapping a quick single into the largely unpatrolled covers. And Amla, in full defensive mode, has taken 30 balls to score four.
