Stephan, can you see if any of the bobsleigh team has a lucky egg? Only Cool Runnings fans will get that reference.

If you give Cook width, at the pace (or lack of) that West Indies are bowling at, and when your fielders can't hold onto anything cleanly, then he's certain to score runs. An easy single through point.

Both England batsmen on their toes, looking for the quick singles.

On a lap of the ground I've seen a man in a tiger onesie, someone in a Norwich kit and Vicky Pollard. I want a picture of the Jamaica bobsleigh team (complete with bobsleigh). They are winning the fancy dress competition so far.

  3. Eng 469-5published at 122 overs

England won't mind that too much - they've obviously come out after lunch looking to score some runs. Plenty of batting still to come in. Jonny Bairstow is the new man, looking to work off whatever grub he had at lunch.

It's short from Chase and Bairstow works it off his hip to get off the mark. Alastair Cook clips another short ball for two through mid-wicket, before ending the over with an easy single down at long-off.

That's a good catch! It was an orthodox delivery, really, but again it's found turn and bounce. First slip anticipated what was going on and he was able to find a place where he thought the ball was coming to. In fact, it's bounced more than anything, and it's got big on Ben Stokes.

I didn't see this coming! Ben Stokes looks to play a cheeky reverse-sweep, but the innovation doesn't come off - he gloves it, it loops up and is caught at slip.

If the weather holds off, there is something enticing about asking Jimmy Anderson to open the bowling with a new pink ball under the lights.

This pitch still looks so flat. Holder gives some room to the left-handed Cook, who pulls for two runs. A brief lapse in concentration as Cook is too late in trying to play a cut shot, and is fortunate not to nick it. Two balls later, he does connect and another piece of poor fielding, this time by the man at gully, provides the England opener with two more to his total. The Windies have been sloppy in the field today.

I think, if I was England, I'd be looking to make use of the little twilight period. Bairstow and Stokes can push on, with half a mind to putting the West Indies in.

  9. Eng 462-4published at 120 overs

Roston Chase continues, Alastair Cook works it on the off side for an easy single. Ben Stokes takes a good look around, eyeing up the gaps. What will he do?

He will sweep for four, that's what. It was full and wide from Chase and Stokes got down early and middled it through mid-wicket. Another two singles to end the over. Seven from it.

Dan Pritchett: It's poor organisation to have the West Indies series before the Ashes. This isn't Test cricket, it's a walk in the park.

    Cook 213, Stokes 5

Jason Holder brings himself on and is greeted with an absolute cracking straight drive from Ben Stokes! That went like a rocket. To add insult to injury, it's a no-ball.

The England all-rounder doesn't seem like he's in the mood to mess around, swatting a wide one from Holder but straight to the man at cover.

We just had a discussion here in the cricket live team: which England batsman are you most excited to watch? I said Stokes, without any hesitation.

Totally agree with Phil Taylor and Peter Trego. Last night my family was so fed up of the 'singing' that we muted the TV sound at 7pm, and put subtitles on for commentary. Plan to do the same again this eve.

I fail to see the attraction of day-night Tests. For the last hour and a half last night the ground had virtually emptied save for the drunken mob with their incessant inane chants. Is that really what the authorities are trying to achieve?

Chase floats them in, Stokes off the mark from his second ball with a single as England reach the 450 mark.

How will England go about this now? With rain predicted this evening, will we see these two put their foot on the accelerator?

The players are back out in the middle. Ben Stokes is the new man in as Roston Chase continues his over.

    Well done, Mystic Ken.

Back to the clips - out of nowhere, Malan departed just before lunch. Regardless, today has been more of the same from England. It's also been more of the same from West Indies. This is so one-sided.

Alastair Cook has now scored four Test double centuries, behind only Walter Hammond among England batsmen.

The moment of the day - Alastair Cook scores his fourth double century in Test cricket. Well played. Take nothing away from the ex-England skipper, but I couldn't help but laugh at the way he reached it.
