Shai Hope is thrilled. He's played really, really well. These two have put on 191 together now. A terrific effort.

  2. 100 runs

100 for Shai Hopepublished at 70.2 overs

    WI 226-3

There it is! A maiden Test century for Shai Hope and what a beauty it's been.

A dreadful delivery from Stokes, well down leg, allowing Hope to easily tuck it away for a single.

Helmet off, lofted bat and a shout. Terrific stuff. Well batted that man.

  3. WI 225-3published at 70.1 overs

Stokes goes straight and back of a length at Shai Hope but the West Indian rocks back and executes a short-arm pull that races to the fence...

    He's on 99...

  4. WI 221-3published at 70 overs

Hope flicks one away for a single to move onto 95.

Brathwaite watchful until Moeen strays onto his pads and the opener clips it fine for four, away from the despairing dive of Cook at fly slip.

  5. WI 216-3published at 69.1 overs

Moeen flights it up but Hope plants his front foot, gets his head over the ball and thumps it to the boundary to move onto 94 - his highest Test score.

Adam Robertson: Just tuned into the cricket at Headingley. Surprised but glad that West Indies are giving England a decent game.

  7. WI 212-3published at 69 overs

    Brathwaite 103, S Hope 90

Stokes to partner Moeen - a dab from Brathwaite to get off strike.

Shai Hope then edges one that squared him up - but it's through that vacant third slip area as Stokes screams to the skies.

Jaffa! Stokes has Hope playing and missing outside off.

A dot and then a prod from Hope to move onto 90.

I'm happy with Moeen's field, it's a field I enjoy. He's got a backward point in and not an extra cover. You want to try and tempt the batsman to drive you and then you bowl him through the gate. Well done, Mo.

  9. WI 206-3published at 68 overs

    Brathwaite 102, S Hope 85

Good start from Mooen after tea - bit of devilment in that first ball followed by a very solid line and length to secure a maiden.

  10. WI 206-3published at 67.1 overs

Ooft. First ball after tea from Moeen Ali keeps very, very low and skids on - Shai Hope shaped to play through leg and had to jab his bat down just in time. He did well to survive.

A bit of variable bounce in this pitch?

Cheers, Matt. Look out for his report of this fine day of Test cricket later.

For now, an engrossing evening session awaits.

England desperately need to find a way to start making inroads into this Windies line-up.

Kraigg Brathwaite and Shai Hope just need to keep what they're doing, they've been exceptional so far.

Moeen has the cherry in his hands, here we go...

Some news (kind of!) for you.

    Turn off now, anti-KP fans.

For England's most divisive player of recent times has confirmed his cricket career in this country is over following Surrey's quarter-final defeat in the T20 Blast last night.

"Surrey's loss last night means the end of career in England. What an amazing journey," he posted on Twitter., external

"Thank you, Notts, Hants, Surrey, ECB & supporters!"

Pietersen will continue to play T20 cricket overseas as well as continuing his involvement in wildlife conservation programmes in South Africa.

  15. Century for Brathwaitepublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 26 August 2017

Sitting on 96 with a part-time spinner bowling at him, Kraigg Brathwaite couldn't resist going for the maximum to bring up his century.

  16. No luck for Englandpublished at 15:52 British Summer Time 26 August 2017

It's been one of those afternoons where nothing has gone England's way. Kraigg Brathwaite was given out lbw earlier but was rescued by an inside edge and then not edging one saved him after what appeared to be a catch by Ben Stokes.

Mark Stoneman also put a very difficult chance down at short leg. It was hardly even a chance. I am clutching at straws a little. The only player who could have caught it is James Taylor but he's in the TMS commentary box.

Remember Aggers wind-up of Boycott earlier this summer? It'll be one for the ages (you can watch it above). The jist of it was that Boycott's 100th hundred at Headingley was actually his 99th. The 100th, Aggers joked, was actually made in Faisalabad. Well, a special commemortative plate has popped up to mark the 'occasion'...

    Geoffrey Boycott
Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special

Windies have outplayed England this afternoon. They've scored at 3.46 runs per over too - they haven't just been poking it around.

The discipline of what to play and what not to play has been fantastic.

England have some serious thinking to do at tea, because what they dished up this afternoon - with the exception of Jimmy Anderson - was not very good.
