    Woakes 36, Broad 5

Woakes happy to let Broad have some of the strike, not completely protecting the number 10 as he picks up one.

Jeez. Chase gets one through that clips Broad's pads. That was close. A thin inside edge? Yep. Nearly popped up to Dowrich, too.

Benjamin: Mo Ali is a special player. Could well be on his way to becoming our greatest ever all-rounder.

I would love to see Moeen and Stokes really battle each other for this title.

  4. Eng 452-8published at 131.1 overs

Woakes opens the face and slides it past the slips - Powell is giving chase, did he pull that back in time?

Long delay as the third umpires looks at it but yes, just the two runs. Good work from Powell.

  5. Eng 450-8published at 131 overs

    Woakes 32, Broad 5

Broad pushes it away to put Woakes back on strike.

A lovely-looking clip to long on for another single to finish.

The 450 is up for England. Great effort so far - is there much more to come?

  6. Eng 448-8published at 130.1 overs

    Lead by 279

Stuart Broad the new man - will he play some shots? Yes.

He sweeps his first ball to the fence. Chase unimpressed.

It's been a terrific innings from Moeen, at his skittish best. He's a much-loved cricketer around the country. He's a joy to watch.

    Ali c Brathwaite b Bishoo 84

Real shame that. Thought another Test century was on the cards for Moeen.

Not to be as he skies Bishoo, looking to clear the fence, but just finding Kraigg Brathwaite at long on, who gratefully clings on.

Didn't time it well as it caught the bottom half of the angled bat but he timed plenty else superbly.

Thoroughly enjoyable innings from the number eight who could well have firmly swung the Test England's way. He'll have a say on the outcome with the ball later, too.

I think West Indies had a very good chance of winning, which they've thrown away with some very bad decisions after tea.

  10. Eng 444-7published at 129.5 overs

Moeen looking to drive away for another boundary - it's not going to get there but good running brings up three.

Woakes takes one to put his partner back on strike.

How long before we're all moaning about Root being too conservative on the declaration?

Moeen flicks a full toss away for one, Woakes then guiding the last ball away for another single.

No dangers at all for this pair right now.

Chris Anderson‏: Moeen Ali is the best number eight I've seen since Steven Gerrard.

More of an Andres Iniesta man myself, but fair shout.

Moeen moves into the 80s, flicking Bishoo down to wide long on for a single.

Flatter, quicker delivery but Woakes gets in behind it. A few more defensive strokes and it's just one off the over.

Even if West Indies bowl England out now, it's going to be an awkward hour for them with Jimmy Anderson racing in.

  16. Eng 436-7published at 127 overs

    Moeen 79, Woakes 28

Chase tries to tease Moeen by tossing it up well outside off - he obliges, smashing it away for yet another four.

And another! Waiting for it outside off and cutting it away to the fence.

A dabbed single makes it nine off the over.

England are as good as any side in the world - certainly at home. If they could solve their problems at 2, 3 and 5 they'd be the best in the world. No doubt about it. I can't remember England ever having a middle order as good as this one.

  20. Eng 427-7published at 125 overs

    Ali 70, Woakes 28

Silky smooth stuff from Moeen as he gracefully drives Chase to the fence through cover.

A ripper from Chase in response that beats the outside edge.

But Moeen has the last laugh - getting down early to sweep through square leg for another four.

That's the 100 partnership between this pair of just 112 balls. Terrific batting.
