  1. drinks break

    WI 155-2published at 46 overs

Need 167 runs to win from a minimum of 50 overs

A furious Broad takes a chunk out of the pitch with a big kick. Bit of a talking to from umpire Ravi - don't think Broad meant to make contact there.

One umpire and three players scamper off for a comfort break as drinks are signalled.

Tea will be at 15:55 BST.

England need to bowl much better in this next hour. If this pair are still there at tea, I reckon Windies coast it.

England have been poor since lunch. The captaincy has been poor. Woakes' bowling has been a shadow of himself.

The best bowlers have been Anderson and Broad. Broad found his rhythm.

After every break you should bowl your best bowler but Broad bowled 40 minutes after lunch.

  3. WI 155-2published at 45.4 overs

    Brathwaite 70, S Hope 59

A fired-up Broad gets some lift and beats Brathwaite's bat.

But he strays straight and the opener works it fine for another boundary.

That's the 100 partnership. Brathwaite and Hope looking imperious.

    England looking very flat.

Robert Stow: This is where England are missing out on an over of Gary Ballance leg spin to wrestle momentum back.

  5. WI 151-2published at 45.1 overs

Brathwaite tries to scramble a single to Anderson - oh dear, Jimmy misfields and the ball runs through his legs at mid on and through to the fence.

Uncharacteristic from Anderson but England have been subpar since lunch.

  6. WI 147-2published at 45 overs

    Need 175 runs to win

Brathwaite flicks Moeen away, bisecting leg slip and wide leg gully for a couple.

A single brings Hope on strike, who thwacks a poor short ball away through square leg for another boundary.

He toe-ended that but enough contact to reach the fence.

Another poor long hop from Moeen is swept away for four once again. Gimme runs and no control from Moeen there.

It is amazing what a bit of confidence can do. I couldn't have told you if Shai Hope played in the last game such was his performance but in this game he has been superb.

  8. WI 136-2published at 44 overs

    Brathwaite 59, S Hope 51

Good response from Broad as he slings a scrambled seam delivery past the outside edge of Hope's bat.

  9. 50 runs

50 for Hopepublished at 43.2 overs

    WI 136-2

Shot! Broad goes too straight and Shai Hope plays a deft clip through mid-wicket to the fence.

And that's 50 - a superb, fluent knock once again in this match from the younger Hope.

Could he beat Brathwaite to be the first man to hit centuries in both innings of a first-class match at Headingley?

England need either or both of these out before long.

    Need 190 runs to win

Moeen flights it up, beating Hope's outside edge - Bairstow whips off the bails but that back foot was planted.

A scrambled two into the leg side follows. Couple of dots before Hope clips a long hop away for a single.

Moeen now round the wicket to Brathwaite - driven but mistimed to mid-off for no run.

England not far off looking totally bereft of any ideas. Time to slow the game down, go defensive and make the Windies take more risks.

  13. WI 129-2published at 42 overs

    Minimum 54 overs remaining

Fifteen straight dots before Windies pick up another run - it's a streaky one off the inside edge of Shai Hope's bat.

Good stuff this from Broad. He goes straight at the stumps - Brathwaite edging it into his own pads.

Another dot to finish. Appreciative smattering of applause from the Headingley crowd.

Successive maidens for England as Moeen Ali gives his side some welcome control.

West Indies will still do incredibly well to win from here. They won't be thinking about it unless these two are still there at tea.

Jon Evans: Cook may have cost us this game. Dropped the most important wicket. If that was taken there would be no questions about the declaration.

  18. WI 128-2published at 40 overs

    Brathwaite 59, S Hope 43

Wickets aside, this is what England need from Stuart Broad - tight bowling, building pressure and offering nothing to the batsmen. A deserved maiden.

A shot of Moeen Ali, who is off the field, peering round the corner near the sight screen. Peek-a-Mo.

He's sneaking back on to bowl now.

Mo is not causing any problems because the ball is not spitting from outside of the off stump. He needs to go around the wicket.

  20. WI 128-2published at 39 overs

England need eight wickets to win

Just not happening for Moeen Ali - there is a bit of turn but no real vicious bite right now.

He's at least offering more control than Woakes - conceding just two singles off the over.

And with that, Woakes is duly replaced at the other end by Broad.
