  1. WI 86-2published at 29 overs

West Indies need 236 runs to win

A single for Shai Hope leaves Kraigg Brathwaite with three balls to get to his half-century but he is not interested.

He knows he has a job to do and just bats out three good deliveries from Moeen.

That is lunch. West Indies will probably take that. This Test doesn't stop giving. Are we going all the way?

  2. WI 85-2published at 28 overs

    Target 322

Brathwaite can't get his half-century this over.

It was a much better one from Woakes than his previous efforts. A maiden. We're going to squeeze one more Moeen Ali over in before lunch.

  3. WI 85-2published at 27 overs

    Brathwaite 49, S Hope 10

For as long as Kraigg Brathwaite is at the crease, West Indies will be quietly confident of surviving for a draw if not winning.

He has seven fours to his name so far and is closing on a half-century.

Can he get it before lunch?

It's good work from Bairstow - Brathwaite did lose his balance and the foot came up briefly.

  5. Not outpublished at 26.2 overs

Nope. As I suspected Brathwaite is safe. For a split second it looked like the foot could be raised but his toe never left the turf.

It didn't look out and there's no real enthusiasm there from the England fielders.

  7. Umpire reviewpublished at 26.2 overs

I think this is more the umpires just making certain but we have an appeal for a stumping.

Moeen bowls down the leg side and Bairstow whips the bails off in a flash. Was Brathwaite's foot raised?

A beautiful shot from Shai Hope, he really hit that well, superb timing.

  9. WI 84-2published at 26 overs

    Brathwaite 48, S Hope 10

    Shot!

That is really good from Shai Hope. A punch off the back foot down the ground.

You don't see a shot like that too often. Proof this pitch isn't too scary for batting on.

  10. WI 80-2published at 25.1 overs

Big appeal from Woakes as he hits Shai Hope on the pad. A few England players are interested in a review but Woakes doesn't look convinced. He knows the ball was drifting down leg side and was right. Good call.

If they can get after Moeen and disrupt him then that will be key for West Indies as you'd expect him to have a big impact.

  12. WI 80-2published at 25 overs

    Target 322

More runs for Brathwaite. Four over the leg side for the opening batsmen off Moeen.

What is it with Brathwaites and England? Kraigg and Carlos are no relation if you're wondering.

Bairstow yells "catch" on the final ball of the over but the ball drops safely.

  13. WI 74-2published at 24 overs

    Brathwaite 43, S Hope 5

Stuart Broad's very impressive eight over spell is over as Chris Woakes comes into the attack for the first time. He was not at his best in the first innings so England need more from him.

He doesn't really muster anything up though, bowling around 83mph.

Brathwaite is playing really well again. I was good with the mockers yesterday so I'll say this. No player has ever got a century in both innings of a Test at Headingley.

England are lucky that Moeen Ali played the way he did yesterday because this is still a good pitch to bat on - we're seeing some lovely shots from Brathwaite.

  15. WI 70-2published at 23 overs

    Target 322

Moeen Ali hasn't quite had the impact England will have hoped for yet.

Shai Hope pushes for three with Joe Root just reaching the ball before the rope.

He gets a big cheer from the crowd for his efforts. He could do anything and they'd still be impressed...

A few of you not so impressed with Hope's efforts but I still think he was really unlucky.

Rich Price: Hope isn't unlucky, run out that way is a risk of backing up. Happens way more often than pundits would lead us to believe.

Why do batsmen back up in Test cricket? I can understand in T20s where risky runs are sometimes taken but in Test cricket if the determination of whether a run is available is based on the extra metre gained surely that makes it too risky to take anyway?

You can't bowl many better balls than that without getting a nick.

  20. WI 67-2published at 22 overs

    Target 322

What a delivery that is from Stuart Broad.

He could have had four or five already this morning but Brathwaite again gets lucky as the ball moves along way off the pitch and misses his edge.

The batsman adds insult to injury by driving down the ground for four. Not pretty but like in the first innings effective.
