This time no luck for Kieran Powell. England have the breakthrough!

    Breakthrough!

Stuart Broad gets the wicket his bowling has deserved as he pitches another up and Powell nicks off to Stokes in the slips.

Moments earlier Anderson had had a few words with Powell. Have England unsettled him a bit there?

  4. WI 43-0published at 15 overs

    Target 322

Jimmy A decides it's time to change the line of attack after a wicketless start as he comes round the wicket to Powell.

No change of fortunes though. In fact it pretty much sums up what we have seen so far.

Anderson finds Powell's edge but it goes down and wide of the slips for another boundary.

This is an encouraging effort from the West Indies opening pair but there is such a long way to go and such an air of vulnerability about their batting.

    283 runs to win

Headingley is filling up nicely but they're being kept quiet by this start. Not the ooooohs and ahhhhhhs you often expect with Anderson and Broad bowling in this situation.

Broad drops a little short for the rest of his over and Brathwaite clips a couple off his hip.

Ruth Brooksbank: England to win, won't make it easy for themselves, will need lunchtime pep talk. Jimmy to get to his 500, Moeen to get a five-for,

Daniel Davies: However much I back England to win today, going to Lord's 1-1 would be a very exciting prospect.

The sun is out and four more to West Indies as Powell drives through point.

    This wasn't in the script.

Root always looks like he wants someone to be firm and tell him they should go for the review.

He doesn't like Jimmy sitting on the fence.

Another good decision not to review though - that was hitting him outside the line.

Anderson is kicking at the ground in frustration after another good over.

There was a big appeal in the middle of it for lbw but Brathwaite had got himself outside the line of off stump.

The batsman is playing exactly as he did in the first innings when he scrapped his way to 100 despite playing and missing often.

The luck has been going to West Indies and the boundaries have been flowing as well.

Another thick outside edge runs away for four.

The runs are flowing for West Indies. England are being frustrated.

Half an hour has been played and no wickets have fallen.

Brilliant Test match, brilliant TMS commentary. The first Test was won but not exciting. My love of Test cricket is renewed thanks to this one.

The cricketing gods are always listening - in this very box, two days ago, we were saying what safe hands Cook has. We're the kiss of death.

  15. Postpublished at 11:43 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

So many catches have been dropped in this match. We probably wouldn't be here on day five if they had all been taken.

England will be hoping that this drop by Cook doesn't cost them.

  16. WI 28-0published at 12 overs

An attacking declaration last night from Joe Root and an attacking field to start the day. It means there are plenty fielders there for the edge but it does allow Brathwaite to drive for four through the vacant mid off.

Now that is a lovely shot from Powell. A little too straight from Broad but he uses the full face of the bat to punch the ball for four down the ground.

The frustration is building in Stuart Broad's head.

    Andrew Samson
    BBC Test Match Special statistician

Only 12 times in Test history has a team declared and lost.

The most recent was Chennai in 2008, when England declared on 311-9 and India chased down 387 for the loss of only four wickets to win.

  19. WI 19-0published at 11 overs

    Brathwaite 9, Powell 10

A rare loss of line from Anderson to start the over and Powell flicks the ball off his hip for four.

That should help the left-hander. Remember he was out to an Anderson beauty in the first innings.

    Make runs when you can.

  20. WI 15-0published at 10 overs

Broad is not happy. He has had a few catches dropped in this match and in recent times.

He's just standing, staring at the ground at mid on with his hands on his head.

Twice he's found the edge today. One just went past the slips (below) and the other was dropped.
