  1. WI 128-5published at 14 overs

    Powell 3, Brathwaite 0

And now it's Carlos "remember the name" Brathwaite at the crease. Can he repeat that six-hitting of the Kolkata final? Just a forward defensive to start.

Good over from Rashid. England are pegging this back.

Walton will be disappointed. Rashid dragged it down, Walton was through the shot early and got too much elevation.

  3. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 13.4 overs

    Walton c Willey b Rashid 13 (WI 127-5)

And another. West Indies' middle order are struggling here. It's a long hop from Rashid and Walton drags it high into the leg side, Willey runs in and takes a good catch at deep mid-wicket, sliding on his knees. England have done very well to pull this back after the Gayle and Lewis show earlier this evening.

Plunkett has experience, pace and uses his brain. He bowled at awkward lengths. It was a fantastic spell.

Without those wickets it would be a completely different game.

  5. WI 125-4published at 13 overs

A superb over from Liam Plunkett, who finishes with figures of 4-0-27-3. He's bowled excellent leg-cutters, full deliveries, ones that follow the batsmen, slower balls. Top effort.

That was a good catch because Curran didn't have time to look behind for the rope. He held his ground. Brilliant, brilliant catch.

Plunkett is making use of his extra pace and bounce on this wicket.

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 12.2 overs

    Pollard c Curran b Plunkett 6 (WI 123-4)

Morgan decides to bowl Plunkett through and it's a wise decision. He strikes again! It's short and rising up towards the batsman, who top edges a pull and it's a smart grab by Tom Curran at a wide fine leg.

  8. WI 122-3published at 12 overs

    Walton 10, Pollard 6

Better from the Bradford-born leg-spinner. Nice and tidy with a tight line, limiting West Indies to just one more from the last three balls. England back in the game after those early fireworks.

That was a bit of a gift from Rashid. There was no venom in that ball and he let it drift onto the pads.

  10. WI 121-3published at 11.3 overs

    Pollard 6, Walton 9

Phew, I've only been doing the live text for an over and there has already been a six and two wickets. England turn to the spin of Rashid, who bowls flat and outside leg and it's tickled down to the boundary by the new man Kieron Pollard.

Samuels was just trying to get the out of the way to give himself room. He had been dancing around trying to get away from the ball coming in towards him.

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 10.5 overs

    Samuels c Root b Plunkett 10 (WI 115-3)

Another one gone and it's the Plunkett and Root partnership that does it again. Samuels moves away from the wicket, Plunkett follows him and Samuels chips it to mid-on. Ugly-looking shot but intelligent bowling.

That was classy. It wasn't a bash. Walton let the ball come to him. The timing was impeccable.

  14. WI 114-2published at 10.3 overs

    Samuels 10, Walton 8

That brings Chadwick Walton on strike. He is off the mark with two before making some room and absolutely swatting it over mid-on for six. This West Indies team really can get hold of them.

I was about to talk him up when he did that. He was hoping for the elevation. The reason I like him is that he is a bit more technical - he's got a more rounded game than Chris Gayle. We're looking at a player who can be as dangerous.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 10.1 overs

    Lewis c Root b Plunkett 51 (WI 106-2)

Gone! England strike. Plunkett pitches it up and Lewis drills it straight to Joe Root at mid-off. Important wicket.

The way Evin Lewis picks the right ball to hit is superb. His power is similar to Chris Gayle but it's that shot selection that has been so good today. West Indies still have plenty of batsmen to come.

    Cheers Matthew.

Chris Gayle living up to expectations. Evin Lewis living up to the hype. Let's see what happens in the next 10 ..

  19. WI 106-1published at 10 overs

    Root 2-0-11-0

The England sub fielders have a big fluffy blanket over them on the bench. Come on lads it can't be that cold!

Joe Root is back. The West Indians aren't taking too many risks against the off-spinner. He has the best figures by far despite two wides in this latest over as the rest just go for singles.

One of those brings up Evin Lewis' 50. He looks a player.

I'm done for now. Here's Kal Sajad.

  20. WI 99-1published at 9 overs

    Lewis 48, Samuels 8

Marlon Samuels gets in on the boundary count with a cut to wide third man. It was a slower ball from Liam Plunkett but too wide and ruins what was a decent over.

I think England's bowlers will be disappointed with the first half of this innings.
