  1. Goodbye ...published at 18:31 British Summer Time 24 September 2017

That's all from us for today. Thank you for joining us! We will be back on Wednesday as England can seal the series win at The Oval.

The likes of Stokes and Root starred with the bat today, but the day belongs to Moeen Ali, with special credit also going to Liam Plunkett.

I will leave you with the winning moment. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday evening.

  2. 'Plunkett is Mr. Reliable'published at 18:30 British Summer Time 24 September 2017

More Eoin Morgan: "Moeen is pretty chilled about everything and he delivers when the team needs him to deliver, which is so important for us. He has been outstanding today.

"Liam Plunkett is Mr. Reliable. He has never let us down over the past two years, he bowls quick. We will be ruthless as we can be and play our strongest XI in both remaining games."

England captain Eoin Morgan: "I am absolutely delighted, especially after losing the toss and losing an early wicket. I thought our start was outstanding. Moeen Ali’s innings was the difference between the sides, certainly with the batting anyway.

"Our bowlers were up against it on this wicket so I thought they did well. The West Indies are like us in that they like to score boundaries, but huge credit to our guys who stuck to their plans. Gayle is one of the best players in the world and we came up trumps."

I think Liam Plunkett is back on the radar for the Ashes. The one thing I worry about with England - if Mark Wood is injured - is a lack of pace. You need something a little different from Anderson and Broad. Perhaps even Craig Overton at Somerset... somebody who is different who could create something. At the minute, the fact Australia have bowlers all capable of bowling at 90mph... that could be the difference when the ball stops swinging.

West Indies captain Jason Holder: "We leaked runs at the death and we paid for it. We brought ourselves back into the game well in the middle stages with the wickets. Then a decent start with the batting but we didn't keep wickets in hand. The seamers did a decent job but just not as consistent as we would have really liked.

"We need to be better in the field. The players need to take the ownership on themselves, to stay on their game. "

England's Moeen Ali, who scored 102 off 57 balls: "It was a good time to come into bat today. I could play myself in and then had licence to clear the small boundaries. They bowled a lot which were in my slot. On another day, I could have hit one up in the air and got out cheaply."

No matter what you say about Chris Gayle, he always brings something to the game. He just wants to bat without running. I've no idea why he bothers running. He's great for the game though, he always leaves you with a talking point - even when he's not playing, like in the second game of this series.

Isaac Cooper: All 10 wickets taken by Yorkshire players, yet Yorkshire are in a relegation battle in the Championship, ECB punishes success.

Anthony: This side is not far off the side we need for the Aussie's, do hope they take Hales as an opener in both formats.

The way Joe Root played today - he makes it look so simple across all formats. He doesn't change his tempo. I've no question that in five or 10 years' time, he'll surpass all records that are going. You can make a case now for saying he's our best ever.

WICKET - England win by 124 runspublished at 39.1 overs

Holder c Moeen b Plunkett 34 (WI 245 all out)

Plunkett has his fifth and England have the win. Holder goes for broke and drives it up in the air, straight into the paws of Moeen Ali at long-off.

How fitting ... Plunkett and Moeen, two of England's star performers from this match, combine for the finish.

It's only 6pm, but it feels like 9 o'clock at night. Is it always like this in Bristol?

  13. WI 245-9published at 39 overs

Miguel Cummins has an orthodox slip and a leg-slip in place. The West Indies number 11 is off the mark with a whippy sweep shot down to the wide fine leg boundary for four.

    England just one wicket away.

It's beautifully bowled. Plunkett and Rashid have been the difference - they bring the pace and mystery.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 38.1 overs

    Taylor b Rashid 0 (WI 241-9)

Jerome Taylor is the new man in. Seconds later, Jerome Taylor is out. Rashid opts for the googly as a first delivery for the new West Indies batsman and he just lost it in the flight, the ball ricocheting off the pad and into the stumps.

It was a change of pace from Liam Plunkett and a good catch by Eoin Morgan - it's sometimes difficult to catch those under the lights.

  17. wicket

    Bishoo c Morgan b Plunkett 12 (WI 241-8)

England edging closer to the win. A slower ball from Plunkett, Bishoo plays across the line and scoops it up in the air, Morgan does the rest.

West Indies haven't given up - they're up against it but they've kept on going.

  19. WI 238-7published at 37.2 overs

We have a new record, ladies and gents. Holder smashes Plunkett for a six over long-on and, in doing so, records the 28th six of the match. The most ever in an ODI in England.

  20. Not out - WI 232-7published at 37 overs

Nope, I don't even think Bishoo's back foot was off the ground. A good over from Rashid, though. Just a Bishoo sweep for four from it.
