Ex-England batter on BBC Test Match Special

Tamim is looking brilliant, as always. I am nervous for England. Bangladesh could get 330, 340 even. Go and make it happen.

  2. Ban 209-2 (Tamim 97, Mushfiqur 60)published at 38 overs

Pure placement from Mushfiqur as he cuts Ball through to point for four.

Have another one Mr Ball, this time it's run through to the third man boundary.

"TAMIM, TAMIM, TAMIM" chant the Bangladeshi fans. He's just three runs from his century.

  3. 'Focus will be on Roy'published at 13:08 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

    Simon Mann
    BBC Test Match Special commentator

England opener Jason Roy won't quite be thinking about his innings yet, but he'll know that the focus will be on him.

It will be a real test of both his technique and temperament.

  4. Watch: Ben Stokes sledging leads to confrontation with Tamim Iqbalpublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

Words exchanged, posturing and pointing, umpires moving in and a gee up to the crowd. And it all started with some 'light' sledging from Ben Stokes, the man who is never far from the action.

Rae: Another reminder that England do not seem capable of ripping through a batting line-up, even Bangladesh.

  7. 50 runs

    50 (Ban 199-2 Tamim 96 Mushfiqur 51)published at 37 overs

50 for Mushfiqur, 100 partnership up. These two have batted absolutely superbly so far.

They score eight from that Root over.

The Bangladesh fans are absolutely loving this.

  8. Ban 191-2 (Tamim 94 , Mushfiqur 45)published at 36 overs

Short and wide from Ball and a guided cut through to the wide third man boundary.

Fist bumps exchanged between the Bangladeshi pair. They continue to rotate the strike.

Ahhh we see Stokes share a smile in the field. Or is he gritting his teeth?

This is good cricket from Bangladesh. First few overs assess the pitch and now wickets in hand with some good hitters looking strong. England now need to rethink their strategy. Any score above 300 does put the pressure on the team chasing, however pitch looks like a belter.

  10. Ban 184-2 (Tamim 91, Mushfiqur 40)published at 35 overs

Rapid Root again trying to get through the over as quick as possible.

Mushfiqur dances down the wicket, straight back over the top of the bowler's head but falls safely. They run through for a couple.

    Five from the over.

  12. Ban 179-2 (Tamim 90 , Mushfiqur 37 )published at 34 overs

The players are re-hydrated. The tall figure of Jake Ball replaces Stokes.

    Four singles from the over.

The runs haven't really dried up for Bangladesh in this innings and, more importantly, they have eight wickets still in hand.

Tamim has played some delightful shots today. Even for his singles, he looks every part of a world-class batsman. The chap deserves a century.

  13. Bangladesh aiming for 340?published at 12:55 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

    Simon Mann
    BBC Test Match Special commentator

Bangladesh are looking at 335-340 from here. The modern way of thinking is to double your score at 32 overs, especially with only two wickets down.

Adam: Stokes vs Tamim - great viewing. What injury?

  16. 'England look rattled'published at 12:50 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

    Alec Stewart
Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special

It seems like the clash with Stokes has unsettled England more than Bangladesh. That Root over was very poor and rushed. The drinks break has come at a good time for England.

Captain Morgan will be telling his players to relax, play their game and not to worry about the opposition.

  17. Ban 174-2 (Tamim 87, Mushfiqur 35)published at 33 overs

I think Root has realised that England's slow over rate may end up costing them.

He sprints back and forth to his marker to get through the over. In doing so, he bowls some wayward deliveries.

England seem to be feeling the heat.

In other news, there are three drummers drumming in the crowd.

    Time for a drinks break.

Home tournament and bookies' favourites ... losing our first match would be absolutely classic England. It’s almost inevitable.

  19. Ban 170-2 (Tamim 86, Mushfiqur 34)published at 32.1 overs

    Okay everything has calmed down.

Talking of cheeky, the fresh-faced Joe Root is now on. First ball, driven to Stokes at long-off. Cue the loud boos from the Bangladeshi fans. Or are they saying Rooooooot? No, it's definitely booo.

England's chronic lack of wicket takers is going to harm them this competition. Saying that, dropping Rashid doesn't help. Baffling decision, just when you think England have put an end to the last-minute strange choices going into tournaments
