  1. 'A sledge-free zone?'published at 12:45 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

    Jonathan Agnew
    BBC Test Match Special

The umpire is having a word with Ben Stokes. I wonder what the umpires have been told. Does it have to be a sledge-free tournament or something?

In terms of what we have seen over the years this is pretty mild. The Bangladeshi fans in the crowd are really getting stuck in to Stokes now, who turns and asks for plenty more!

  2. Ban 169-2 (Tamim 85, Mushfiqur 34)published at 32 overs

Sledging has officially turned up to the Champions Trophy.

Tamim plays and misses at a leg-cutter. Next up is a slower ball and it's guided down to the third man boundary for four.

Stokes has some words for the opener, who at first doesn't seem interested in getting involved.

But he then gestures to the English all-rounder to walk back to his mark and get on with it.

    Cheeky! Umpires now getting involved.

  3. Postpublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

    Alec Stewart
Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special

Bangladesh are on course for 300-plus. Yes, it's a short boundary but a score in excess of 300 instantly puts pressure on the chasing side.

  4. Get involvedpublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

    #bbccricket or 81111

Jack Harrison: All those pre-match who were writing them off, take note: Bangladesh are much stronger than they used to be with bat and bal

Joe Gibney: Typical England. Start the best sports party (cricket, rugby) then do their best to get thrown out early even as host

  5. Ban 163-2 (Tamim 80, Mushfiqur 33)published at 31 overs

'There's a quick one right on your chops, how'dya'like that?' is what you'd imagine Mark Wood would like say to Tamim after the first delivery of this over.

The Bangladeshi didn't look too confident trying to play that short one.

Three off the rest of the over, a good one from Wood.

  6. Watch: Ball takes a tumble after consecutive boundariespublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

Jake Ball, giving everything he has to stop the second of consecutive boundaries, does not see the advertising boards in time to stop his forward momentum.

Tamim turning the screw on Plunkett.

  7. Tigers fans making a racketpublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

Miles, miles more noise being made by the Bangladesh fans than the home supporters at The Oval. There's a corner of the ground, underneath the pavilion, that is almost exclusively Tigers. Green shirts, flags, exploding with noise every time the ball crosses the boundary. They are getting plenty to cheer too - a big score is on the cards.

  8. Not all heroes wear capespublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

    But some wear suits

The wonder of social media in full effect here.

You may recall that at 11:52 we posted a plea from Andrew Haskins, a man in possession of tickets for hospitality at The Oval, but not of clothes which meet the dress code.

We can all sympathise I'm sure.

Well, David Court has stepped up to the plate, but our man still needs some shoes, trousers and a shirt.

Who can help out?! Let's make this happen everyone...

  9. Ban 159-2 (Tamim 78, Mushfiqur 31)published at 30 overs

    Stokes again.

Oooh, a cut from Mushfiqur falls just short of the point fielder.

Another oooh when Root has a shy at the stumps as the Bangladeshi batsmen tun through for a single. I think he would have made it in.

The score predictor is saying Bangladesh are on course for 290.

A competitive score but I reckon they could get a lot more than that.

  10. Postpublished at 12:32 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

    Phil Tufnell
Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special

England need to stop Mushfiqur playing that dab shot to third man. He's knocking it down there to get off strike, and it's letting him off the hook at times. Make him cut it rather than glide it.

  11. Ban 156-2 (Tamim 76, Mushfiqur 30)published at 29 overs

Mark Wood is back into the attack.

It wasn't long ago we were talking of Tamim's slow scoring rate.

Well he's picked it up now, another pull pierces the leg-side field for four.

Remember, Chris Woakes has left the field with what is understood to be a side strain and is unlikely to bowl again. The England bowlers will have to put a shift in now.

  12. How's stat?!published at 12:30 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

    Dan Norcross
    BBC Test Match Special

A big score from Bangladesh here and England will feel the pressure. They've got to face Mustafizur for the first time. He's never gone for more than 4.5 an over in his first match against another country.

  13. Ban 150-2 (Tamim 71, Mushfiqur 29)published at 28 overs

For anyone who thought this would be an easy opening match for England, you were wrong.

    The 150 is up.

Stokes shares some words with the umpire, not quite sure what that was about.

  14. Watch: Tamim Iqbal hits a six off Moeen Alipublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

Tamim Iqbal decides it is time to put some pressure on Moeen, skipping down the pitch to fire a big six in to the crowd.

  15. Ban 147-2 (Tamim 70, Mushfiqur 27)published at 27.2 overs

Stokes doesn't get his line right and Mushfiqur elegantly pulls a wide ball and it races through to another boundary. This lad can bat.

  16. Postpublished at 12:25 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

    Andy Zaltzman
    BBC Test Match Special statistician

These two now have their 50 partnership off 48 balls.

  17. Ban 143-2 (Tamim 70, Mushfiqur 23)published at 27 overs

Moeen continues and races through another one.

He's been fairly economical so far but goes for seven this time.

A beauty of cut from Mushfiqur earning him three runs is the highlight of this over.

  18. Get involvedpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

    #bbccricket or 81111

Jibin Mathew George: England need some wickets. And soon. Iqbal and Rahman are the kind of batsmen who'll run away with the game if well set.

Jov4: Think Plunkett can be a real driving force with bat and ball this tournament. Fingers crossed

  19. Ban 136-2 (Tamim 68, Mushfiqur 18)published at 26 overs

    Another expensive over.

Glorious pull from Tamim - he's getting the skates on. A shortish delivery and textbook from the opener.

What's next? A four driven straight down the ground. Jake Ball can't quite chase it, and in attempting to do so he falls over the advertising boards.

The last thing England need here is another injury.

  20. Ban 125-2 (Tamim 59, Mushfiqur 16)published at 25 overs

Some top-class Richie Benaud nostalgia on TMS currently. What a man.

That's halfway through the Bangladesh innings.

Here's Kal Sajad to take you through the next passage of play.
