    Jake Cope, Forecaster BBC Weather Centre: "It’s the first day of summer and the weather is indeed playing cricket. It’s going to be warm and sunny with light winds all day so barring a batting collapse (apologies in advance) we should see a full 100 overs of white ball action.

    "At the start of play it will be around 17C peaking at 25 or 26C mid-afternoon. Pollen and UV levels are both high today so there will most likely be a few red faces at The Oval today, for one reason or another."

    Ben Stokes had a fitness test on the outfield this morning and is expected to be able to bowl a few overs.

    All-rounder Stokes, 25, has been suffering from a knee problem but bowled in practice on Wednesday.

    "I certainly see him bowling," said England captain Eoin Morgan.

    Morgan also confirmed Chris Woakes is fit and Jason Roy will retain his place opening the batting.
