  1. Eng 290-2 (Root 119, Morgan 71)published at 46 overs

England need 306 runs to win

    No messing about from Morgan.

There is a short boundary on the leg-side which he takes full advantage of with a maximum.

He opts to play the next one on the ground, pushing it through the covers for another four.

Now it's Root's turn, corr he timed that one, piercing the off-side field for a boundary.

    Big over.

The Bangladeshi fans have been brilliant today, full of colour and voice and really have supported their team.

But that's enough for some of them, they are being directed out of the ground by the stewards. Go on, get outta'here, miss the traffic and the busy tubes/trains.

  2. Watch: Joe Root makes his 10th ODI centurypublished at 18:02 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

That's right. 10 ODI centuries, fifth best batsman in the world in this format, average over 40 runs. Not bad going for England's talisman.

  3. Eng 274-2 (Root 114, Morgan 60)published at 45 overs

England need 306 runs to win

SIX! I think it is pretty safe to say Root has got his eye in with this one. No foot movement, just a golf swing which goes high and long.

A full toss is then dealt with as Root plays it off his legs over midwicket for four.

100 partnership up and required runs is now just 32 from 30.

Kevin Ticehurst: Well played Joe Root, even with one leg. Batting masterclass, what a special player we have!!

Arjun Sohanpal: Rooooooootyyyyyyy! What a fab knock. Did with one leg what Hales failed to do with two.

  5. Eng 263-2 (Root 103, Morgan 60)published at 44 overs

England need 306 runs to win

England more than happy to take it at their own pace. Five from the over.

This will be the highest successful run-chase in ICC Champions Trophy history, should the hosts win. Quite surprising that stat.

  6. Watch: Morgan reaches his 50published at 17:49 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

Eoin Morgan, the man in fine form, reaches his 50 with a boundary off Mashrafe Mortaza.

  7. Get involvedpublished at 17:48 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

    #bbccricket or 81111

Sahil Oberoi: Not a lot new learnt today: England very good with the bat, average with the ball. Bangladesh flatter to deceive

  8. Eng 258-2 (Root 101, Morgan 57)published at 43 overs

England need 306 runs to win

So now that Root and Morgan have reached their century and half-century, perhaps they will step it up a gear?

    48 from 42 needed.

  9. 'I hope Jason Roy is watching'published at 17:48 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

    Alec Stewart
Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special

Joe Root almost goes unnoticed. He is in total control in all forms of the game. He is a class act, it's no wonder that he's in the top three in the world.

Jason Roy should be watching this, I hope he is. Joe Root gives himself a chance. He still plays his natural game but he gives himself a chance, he gets in.

If you only have 10 off the first 15 balls you face, it doesn't matter. You'll catch up. Play to your strengths.

  10. 100 runs

100 for Rootpublished at 42.5 overs

You know what's coming from the crowd - "ROOOOOOOOOOOOT"

A couple of runs for England's Test captain takes him to three figures. He has done what was needed from him. He has done what is expected from him.

  11. 'Flawless'published at 17:46 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

    Alec Stewart
Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special

It has been an almost flawless chase from England. They just need to knock these 60 off as run rate could play a part in the competition.

Bangladesh have earned the right to play with the big boys, they have shown that they will not be fazed. Can they cause problems for Australia or New Zealand? Time will tell.

  12. 50 runs

50 for Morganpublished at 42.1 overs

Morgan drives at one, doesn't go where he intended but still goes for four.

The captain, who came in at 165-2, has batted with composure but played shots when needed. He will want to see it out until the end now.

  13. Eng 246-2 (Root 98, Morgan 48)published at 42 overs

England need 306 runs to win

Rubel to Root, just one shot away from his century the Yorkshireman.

A good over with some decent variety. Just two off it, one of them being courtesy of a sloppy misfield.

    60 from 48 needed.

  14. Watch: Morgan goes BIGpublished at 17:40 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

Eoin Morgan hits the biggest six of the day, 96 metres fyi, off Shakib Al Hasan.

  15. Eng 244-2 (Root 97, Morgan 47)published at 41 overs

England need 306 runs to win

That's a biggie! Morgan gets under one and hoists it over long on for a six. 96 metres that was! Biggest of the match.

The next ball is pushed onto the off-side for another boundary.

13 from that over and, in an instance, the run-rate is brought down to not far off a run-a-ball. 62 from 54 needed.

  16. Postpublished at 17:33 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

    Phil Tufnell
Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special

England are going along nicely, Bangladesh just can't break this partnership. You've got to put pressure on the batting side, get wickets, and they haven't been able to do that.

  17. Eng (Root 95, Morgan 36)published at 40 overs

England need 306 runs to win

Root doesn't want singles. He wants glorious, textbook, elegant off-drives for four. He gets one of them first up off Mashrafe.

Apart from that early Roy dismissal, England haven't really looked in trouble in this run chase.

Mr Dependable Joe Root just five away from his century. Into the final ten overs we go, 75 needed.

  18. Watch: Morgan in or out?published at 17:30 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

Has the captain had one of his nine lives taken away?

  19. Cheers Skip!published at 17:28 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

    Phil Tufnell
Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special

    Cheers skip!

Joe Root is having a word with Eoin Morgan after that.

'Have you seen me hobbling about for the last hour?! Then you drop the ball to gully and say 'yes!'

    'Thanks mate!'

  20. Eng 226-2 (Root 90 , Morgan 36)published at 39 overs

England need 306 runs to win

'The Fizz', aka Mustafizur, is back.

Oh Morgan, do your partner a favour eh? He's struggling. The captain goes for a tight single and Root, still suffering from what we suspect is an ankle injury, would have been short. Lucky for him, the shy at the stumps misses.

England still in control. This is now the loudest we've heard the home crowd all day.

Meanwhile, a chap sporting the 1992 England World Cup shirt (what a shirt, by the way) shows us his best dance moves in the stands.
