  1. Eng 38-1 (Hales 25, Root 12)published at 8 overs

Jonny Bairstow has had the worst of both worlds today. He's fielded for 48 overs as a sub for Chris Woakes and he can't bat.

Joe Root clips one back at Shakib, who almost turns it onto the stumps and runs out Alex Hales! He would have been gone.

Hales then picks the spin early and flashes a fantastic four over deep midwicket. Fetch that.

Theo Sheridan: Roy reminds me of Stokes two years ago. He innovates shots from ball one. Stokes learned he could give himself two overs then explode.

Jason Roy should have just had a look at the bowling, a little peek. He's clearly got a scrambled mind. It wasn't the shot to play when you're on 1.

  5. Eng 30-1 (Hales 18, Root 11)published at 7 overs

I wonder what Jason Roy is thinking right now. Will his team-mates be surrounding him, offering condolences and advice? Or is he best left alone to stew on that dismissal?

Every personality is different. Captain Eoin Morgan has said that Roy will keep his place throughout the tournament.

  6. 'Wolf my Wellington'published at 15:01 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

    Phil Tufnell
Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special

I've had some stomach ache for half-an-hour. The interval was too short and I had to wolf down my mushroom wellington.

  7. Eng 28-1 (Hales 18, Root 9)published at 6.3 overs

Tuffers believes that the half-hour interval is not long enough, he's had to rush his lunch. That'll do you no good.

Another classy shot from Alex Hales but it's right at a fielder.

  8. Eng 27-1 (Hales 17, Root 9)published at 6 overs

Bit of a misfield at backward point as these pair look for singles at every turn.

Shakib bowls a flat one this time, Alex Hales is able to chop it away for another.

  9. Eng 23-1 (Hales 15, Root 7)published at 5 overs

    England need 306 to win

Alex Hales looks in nice touch, middling everything so far. At the other end is the silky Joe Root. Can these two put on a good partnership - that's what England will be hoping.

  10. Watch: Jason Roy caught well by Mustafizurpublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

Ooooh, that's the second great catch of the match. Mustafizur plucks the ball out of the air to send the out of nick Jason Roy packing.

  11. Eng 21-1 (Hales 14, Root 6)published at 4.3 overs

Four more for England. Lovely shot from Alex Hales as the ball is overpitched and he punches a drive away to the fence.

Mortaza then pushes Hales back on to his stumps with a naggingly accurate delivery, but four more for Hales! Cut away this time.

Matt Barron‏: I bet Kev Sandall didn't have time to even put that bet on. Worst shout of the decade from Kev?

  13. Watch: Alex Hales hits a boundary off Shakibpublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

Alex Hales off the mark with a boundary.

  14. Eng 13-1 (Hales 6, Root 6)published at 4 overs

Chris Woakes, who only managed to bowl two overs before suffering that side strain, is able to bat apparently should he be required.

Joe Root's four was reminiscent of a young Wally Hammond.

  16. Eng 12-1 (Hales 5, Root 6)published at 3.3 overs

Lovely. Fantastic shot from Joe Root, puts almost zero effort into it and punches a drive to the fence for four.

You'd go a long way to see a nicer drive than that. All the way to Ian Bell's back garden.

  17. Eng 7-1 (Hales 5, Root 1)published at 3 overs

Joe Root is off the mark.

  18. Eng 6-1 (Hales 5, Root 0)published at 2.4 overs

You may have heard of England's number three - Joe Roooooottttttt.

He needs to steady the ship. Don't think about that collapse at the weekend, don't think about that collapse at the weekend, don't think about that collapse at the weekend, don't think about that collapse at the weekend, don't think about that collapse at the weekend, don't think about that collapse at the weekend, don't think about that collapse at the weekend, don't think about that collapse at the weekend...

  19. 'Desperate to get one away'published at 14:47 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

    Ebony Rainford-Brent
Ex-England batter on BBC Test Match Special

That's not great to watch. It happens to every batsman, where you have times where it doesn't work out for you, but Jason Roy should have given himself time and shown some patience. He was desperate to get one away but if he's stayed there for 30 overs, he's got a hundred. It's difficult to judge because he's been successful playing this way but England fans will want to see him giving himself more time at the crease.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 2.3 overs

    Roy c Rahman b Mortaza 1 (6-1)

That's the way it goes when you're out of form! Jason Roy middles a shot straight at a fielder for a dot ball and the next ball he improvises a dinked scoop shot down the leg side. If it goes to the fence, it's genius.

When it goes to the fine leg fielder, it's crazy.
