Looking again, De Villiers actually fumbled at first to make Sri Lanka think the single was on. Mid-off, the ball runs straighter, AB recovers with deadly results. Chamara Kapugedera the new man, Imran Tahir the bowler...

The fact AB de Villiers could hit the stumps while horizontal on the ground is amazing. My eyes wouldn't be able to focus on the stumps if it was me.
Chandimal run out 12 (SL 116-3)
It's barely believable. It looked like a single was on for all the money in the world. AB de Villiers moved, swooped, dived and threw in one motion. Direct hit at the non-striker's end, a dawdling Dinesh Chandimal not even bothering to dive. Well short. South Africa on top.

De Villiers was like Superman, with an underarm flick. I think that's out.
SL 116-2
Has AB done something brilliant here? An incredible run out?
Andy Zaltzman
BBC Test Match Special statistician
Since the last World Cup, Dinesh Chandimal is averaging 49 but has a strike-rate of just 75. He's actually the perfect man for Sri Lanka in this situation.
Target 300
De Villiers has given Tahir the nod. Tahir has been warming up for so long that he probably hasn't got the energy to bowl. Morkel has a field set for some banged-in bowling, plenty of cover square on the leg side. South Africa continue to drag it back.

It's not a track where batsmen look like they are going to get out, but very few have looked fluent.
Tharanga 39, Chandimal 9
Stand-in skipper Upul Tharanga continues to look solid, especially when playing square on the off side. Tahir goes through his action to give further hints to skipper ABDV. This is good stuff from Chris Morris - he's only gone for 13 from three overs.
Target 300
A rare loose ball from Morkel is cut for four by Chandimal. On the boundary, Imran Tahir is getting loose. He's wearing a long-sleeved sweater on what is a pretty hot day. After being sent to the fence, big Morne ends the over well - four dots. South Africa had 55 after 15 overs. Sri Lanka have 105.
In the drinks break, have a look at the wickets that have fallen...
Chris Morris. There's a Brasseye joke in there somewhere, but they've all been done before. Slip in place, South Africa smelling blood. In the crowd a dad eats a double ice cream whilst his son makes do with a single. Top parenting. They take drinks. Sri Lanka have only added 13 runs in the past four overs.

Mo Mustafa: The average for first innings so far is 298. Is that down to pitch, conditions or quality in batting?
Target 300
Morkel again, round the wicket to the left-handed Tharanga, hammering the ball in. Rib ticklers. It feels harder for Sri Lanka now, like South Africa have got themselves together. It probably helps that Wayne Parnell isn't bowling any more...
Morris 1-0-4-1
Dinesh Chandimal the new man. Sri Lanka probably with a little consolidating to do. Game on. More wickets and South Africa are bang on top.

It was an ordinary-length delivery and Kusal played it so far in front of his body.
Ebony Rainford-Brent
Ex-England batter on BBC Test Match Special
That is genius, pure brilliance from De Villiers. He was caught off guard by the shot and wasn't expecting the catch but his natural ability saw him catch it. South Africa have burgled a wicket there.
Mendis c De Villiers b Morris 11 (SL 94-2)
Whadda catch! Hang time from AB de Villiers! That's like Michael Jordan. An ordinary stroke from Kusal Mendis, poking at new bowler Chris Morris, chipping the ball towards mid-on, where De Villiers was quite close. The uber-talented one jumped, hung, and plucked it out of the air with one hand.
Tharanga 30, Mendis 10
Now the South Africa fielding is falling apart, with JP Duminy going over the top of one at point. Morne Morkel, the big bird, has at least applied pressure to the wound, cutting off the boundaries. Time for some Imran Tahir?
